On the surface, they're a really great apartment complex. The property manager and super are very kind, and I think they do try their best to be helpful to your needs. But I could not get out of there fast enough by the time my lease was up.
I was interested in, and moved in, because of their 7 month lease, pet friendly, and the location was great, I was incredibly excited. I got one of the 2 newly upgraded units, the neighbors I met seemed nice, I was good to go for a short time. Unfortunately, thats not the way it played out.
First, the maintenance. I couldn't use my patio for the ENTIRE duration of my lease because there was broken glass, melted sheet metal, nails, and screws from the renovation, all dug into the dirt pathway to my patio (see the pictures). I complained for months, they tried to COVER IT UP with mulch, and the fact that my apartment didn't have gutters (always "out for bid, and with last falls hurricane season Im sure you can guess how it was) made it sink deeper and deeper into the dirt. It was there when I left, and probably still is. There was no follow up by management whether their maintenance man had done his job, on any level.
Second, the management. As nice as they are, it's incredibly disorganized, and unless you're prepared to do everything by yourself I wouldn't live there. The sewage backed up in my apartment one night, I couldn't find an emergency maintenance number anywhere to call (had to get it from another tenant), and when their contracted plumbers didn't answer the phone, I was literally told "there's nothing we can do." So instead of letting the BATHTUB FULL OF SEWAGE flood into my apartment, I called and got a plumber to come out and fix it, under the impression I was going to have to pay for it myself, all of which is illegal by tenant law. I rent, specifically so I dont have to deal with things like this. During this ordeal I called the Property Management Company who said I was "lucky they were able to pay the bill."
Third, there's dog poop EVERYWHERE. They don't enforce tenants using leashes, and my dog was almost attacked twice by another residents pets. They dont have breed restrictions which I really support because I dont believe in breed stereotypes, but when you have dogs that are 100lbs trying to attack dogs that are 15lbs, its a problem.
And now, upon leaving, they're charging me for damages that they didnt specify (I can only assume it was a towel rod that wasn't installed with the proper brackets to begin with, and blinds that broke while I was sitting on my living room couch, which I talked to them about when I moved out) and carpet cleaning, even though I paid a pet deposit when I moved in. They didnt give me any warning, just an email that I had a balance due, and then the next day it got sent to a collection agency. So now here's my review.
