So the mixed reviews the perfect description of what it's been like living here. However, the only reason I'm giving 3/5 is because of the new management team and their efforts (Jessica thank you for all of your help with everything). The previous management was absolutely horrible. It took almost an entire year for my heat/AC to be fixed and I'm pretty sure the numerous "heated" voicemails I left was the reason the 24/7 maintenance hotline was implemented. There's good, there's bad. So here's my breakdown after 3 years of living here.
GOOD:
The apartments are nice. The layouts, granite counter tops, etc all make it a very comfortable place to live.
The location. Literally in the middle of everything, but still tucked away enough where it feels slightly secluded. Five minutes or less and I can make it to 711, CVS, Kroger, a couple nice restaurants, 664/17/164, and it's a 10 minute drive for me to get to work. Super convenient.
The management staff. Ever since the new team came in there has been a drastic improvement in regards to issues resolved. Or at least some form of communication letting us know that they are working on it. They are super friendly and helpful, and they make an honest effort to make living here as enjoyable as possible. Whether it be helping you with a problem or setting up community events such as paint night or a super bowl party, these little things are a nice touch.
Overall the community is nice. People are generally polite and keep to themselves.
The BAD:
The walls are pretty thin and If you have anyone above you, pray pray pray they are considerate or at least know how to walk without imitating a T-Rex stalking its prey. As I type this review, my neighbors above me are doing trampoline line dancing and I can literally feel the vibrations in my bed as a lay here. I've made complaints and am hoping for a resolution, but honestly it's making me consider moving at the end of my lease.
The rent is a little steep. I didn't realize that these apartments were section 42 until I read other reviews and I don't d I'm currently paying almost $1200 for a 1bd/1br and had I known that, I probably wouldn't have moved in because it can be pretty obvious sometimes. My truck has been broken into a couple times, once again the noise all throughout the day, and a few other instances where consideration for neighbors is just thrown out the window. I'm not against housing assistance, but why should I have to pay so much more to live in the same conditions?
Gated community should really be in quotation marks. Yes there is a gate, but with how easy it is to bypass (if it hasn't been rammed by someone and broken for a few weeks) and absolutely zero enforcement to the parking situation, anyone can get in. A lot of times, people who don't live here will wait right outside the gate for a resident to go through the gate and just follow right through. God help your parking situation if someone throws a party or has family stay for extended periods of time. If I realize someone is waiting for me to open the gate for them, I'll intentionally park outside the gate and walk in, especially if they're sitting right in front of the gate and expect me to let them in. Residents have a couple ways to open the gate, so I really don't care if they stare me down as I walk by.
THE GOD DAMN INTERNET. Yes, cable and Internet are included for free, but good God it is horrible. None of the channels are in HD, but that really doesn't effect me since I use Hulu/Netflix exclusively. That's where the Internet comes in and just for the record, you are forced to use the service provided and cannot go to a third party such as Verizon or Cox. The service constantly drops or slows to an absolute crawl. I finally broke down the other day and decided to upgrade to the gold package. You are provided with the bronze package for free (10mbp per second) and the gold triples that for $30/month (30mbp per second). I've run multiple tests and the highest I've reached was 7mbp per second, so I was straight up hoodwinked.
