I lived at this apartment for 5 years and I would like to put down some comments.
First off, this apartment is located downtown so it's close to malls, bus and trax access. If that's all you are looking for, then you should rent this place. If you don't want to fight the charges when you leave this apartment, you should absolutely avoid this place. I was charged for replacing brand new carpets, oven tops, etc. The problem with that is, they didn't have a brand new carpet when I moved in so, they can't charge me for a brand new replacement. They probably charged the tenants before me for the same carpet. When I started questioning all these, the manager (DJ) threatened me that she would send it to collection if I don't pay. Well, I wasn't going to not pay but wanted clarification on the charges. At this point, I wanted to talk to her manager but he was on vacation until the following week. I haven't been able to get hold of him since so, I stopped trying. I know what I am going to be told and it would just be a waste of my time. But I want to take some time so people like me don't have to go through the same thing. I was charged $220 on top of my deposit of $670.
Pros:
-Close to downtown, somewhat quiet neighbors except for some missionaries running around making noise giving you the feeling of dorms.
-Nice and caring maintenance people (more professional than the manager).
-Month to month lease.
Cons:
-Only one parking per unit although they have plenty of unoccupied parking space in the back. Got many tickets parking on the street for more than 2 hours. Good luck getting parking space on the street.
- No air condition in bed rooms. In summer, it's a nightmare living in this place. They only have ac in the living room where I slept during summer times.
-You'll get response faster from maintenance than the manager. she seldom answers her phone; if you leave a voice mail, she would just say she never got a voice mail?.
-One small laundry room for entire community. Old machines and always packed and too expensive for what they are.
-charges are absurd when you leave. They will make every effort to charge you for a brand new replacements even when you didn't get brand new when you moved in.
If you do decide to rent this apartment, keep a copy of check in conditions of equipment and appliances in a safe place. I would even encourage you to video tape or take good pictures of everything. I don't want anybody else to have same experience with the manager (DJ)like I did after living here for 5 years. I believe in good relationship with people even when I am departing. No burning bridges like the property manager did.
