Montgomery College

Rockville is a pretty safe place to live. It’s a really nice suburban town, overall. Statistically, the crime rate is that of the average American town for crime. The City Center and Croydon Park have a higher rate of crime than anywhere else in Rockville, but aren’t considered dangerous at all. Montgomery College is pretty close to the City Center, but is completely safe. At Mongomery College campuses, crime is extremely low. In the past few years there have been a couple sex offenses, but they were actually by the same guy. Only a couple thefts happen a year. Hate crimes based on race happen about once a year. Montgomery is nowhere near a party; it has no dorms or Greek life, and not all that many clubs that host events. The Rockville Town Center is a few minute walk from the Montgomery campus, however, where you can go shopping and to the movies. In terms of nightlife, there are many bars in Rockville. Hard Times is a restaurant/bar open til about 11, Quench is a cocktail bar open til 1am on Fridays and Saturdays, Gordon Biersch is open til 1 or 2am every night, and Clyde’s feels like Cheers. There isn’t really anywhere good for dancing in Rockville, though you can do karaoke at FM Karaoke, play pool at the Oriental Billiar Club, or catch a concert at one of the small theaters.

Methodology

Each month, using over 1 million Rentable listings across the United States, we calculate the median 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom rent prices by city, state, and nation, and track the month-over-month percent change. To avoid small sample sizes, we restrict the analysis for our reports to cities meeting minimum population and property count thresholds.
