I'm still up in the air with Sommerset. I probably wouldn't have left this review publicly mid-lease if they had a tenant relations section for tenants on their website. Not even 6 months into my lease my ceiling's sheet rock fell in; in my master bedroom, and left a huge mess. Brittany the manger just recently started before my ceiling caved in and was on it from the begging. Because of that, I felt great through the fixing the ceiling process that only took two days! Kudos to that. My biggest concern was my fire tv stick remote mistakenly getting tossed within the rubble because it's so small and thrown away. Brittany being a good manger that she is constantly asked were things ok, I told her about the remote and how my renters deductible is 1k, she even offered to buy me another. The next day she repealed her offer, I wasn't upset about the repeal, I became upset at what she said. "I can't just buy you another remote! That's what's your renters insurance is for. Because the moment I buy the remote it'll probably just pop up, and the next thing I know; you say your laptop is missing and want me to buy that too." So that's how that went. She's a delightful lady but I feel doesn't realize how patronizing she is when she tries to get her point across. When that gets handled my 3 will become a 5. Nice neighbors, very quiet, dog friendly etc.

Great place for the price you can't beat. As with most older apartments things begin to wear down but the new management has been quick to make sure things work properly and address any concerns. Brittany is pretty amazing person as well and I am glad the new change in management has happen showing they genuinely value their residents and are not just here to get people to move in like other places. So far I am pleased and a happy camper.

I moved here because the rent was affordable and my step mother had lived here prior with a good experience when it was Pegasus . My rent keeps getting higher every month( like some cell phone bill) to the point that I should have just moved back to paying the same amount that included utilities that actually worked. My point in coming here was to SAVE money so I decided to take the lower end of living now Im paying more for it? It is FREEZING in my apartment and hot in the summer to the point that my energy bill is almost 150$ for one person bc the heater and ac and thermostat dont work and their is no insulation and the walls and ceiling look like they are caving in. I have had to had my ac and heater fixed so many times and it still doesnt work properly. I get no hot water what so ever and if I do it lasts 2 minutes. I was told I would be paying my monthly rate which was low and 10 for trash...I moved here because I hated valet trash and was assured they would not be having it. Now some new owner has taken over and just included valet trash another fee that I did not sign up for in my original lease plus a trash fee?how bout you remodel the whole place and fix all your utilities as well if Im just going to pay extra? Oh by the way I want more money from you sorry. Brittany is very nice and helpful and the other ladies that worked prior not this rude man that answered the phone today. My toilet has been leaking and that has still yet to be fixed and Im being charged a higher water bill for that. You dont get what you pay for here. Next month itll probably be a thousand and I dont live in a luxury apartment I live where the roaches like to make themselves at home. CUSTOMER CARE I work to hard for anyone to just take money from my pocket. Ive been nice but Im starting to get sickkkkk of the issues. In addition to this I havent received mail since I moved here and the postal office said it was correct. Called the office another rude response. Tried to pay my rent and I cant the man rudely said Ill be able to next month and I have to work so now I cant even pay my rent and thatll be another late fee or some bs fee. Got me furious.

If you have no other choice but to stay here make it a short lease. The only reason it gets 2 stars is that, the rent is reasonable for the location and the balconies are nice.

Let me just start off with I really hate to give any place of business a bad review because I know that there are people in each and every business that the review does not reflect. When I first got to Sommerset Place it was a WRECK. I moved in at the end of June, and when I first walked in the entire apartment was disgusting. There were cockroaches in the window seal, the sliding glass door to the porch did not work, NONE of my doors in the kitchen or laundry doors slid open at all, the AC DID NOT WORK, the bathrooms had not been cleaned (there was toothpaste on the mirror), oven did not work and many other things. It was 90 degrees the first night I stayed in that apt and no one answered my request for help nor PAID for my family (including 2 year old daughter) to stay in a cool place in the middle of the summer. Still to this day my oven does not work, and laundry doors will not open, and yes there are always cockroaches. It pisses me off so much to even go into details about everything because there are good people that work there like Anako, and I Know I am not the only resident that is having problems.

I've lived here a year and had no choice but to renew my lease because I couldn't find a new place in time. My sliding glass door handle lock has broken multiple times and the maintenence people are lazy and never fix anything. The ac was leaking inside for who knows how long and there's water stains all over the wall and they expect us to repair that? There is roaches and water bugs everywhere!!! It's disgusting and the exterminators don't even spray hardly anywhere, it just makes the bugs worse!! I've dreaded living here, but now I'm stuck paying 900 and some change a month for another year. Totally not worth it. They won't even give us the cheap fake tile floor in the dining room like a lot of the other apartments so we are stuck with carpet. They don't care about their tenants and who lives here. Only thing good about this place is location.

The apartment is a good price for the amount of square footage, that is it. What is terrible is the maintenance of this place. The AC units inside the apartment are so old that when you do have something break (which will be all summer) the only thing maintenance can do is put a band aid on it to temporarily prevent it from breaking further. Pegasus will nickle and dime you but not replace anything when they should. Like an AC unit that is clearly decades old. But they do not care because they do not pay any utilities so when you have an astronomical bill because the AC has been running all day to keep it from hitting 80 in the apartment...oh well. You have to just pay it. I have an infant so who can't sleep in 80 degrees apartments. Do not live here if you care anything about comfort or being taken care of. I am counting down the months till I can move out.

I lived in this community for just over 18 months and, overall, my experience was decent. I had a few maintenance issues which took longer than I believe was necessary but things were always eventually resolved. The location is great and the property itself is fairly attractive.

This was the second apartment complex in which I lived in Raleigh and, though I know my experience is limited, I have to say that this is the absolute WORST. The entire thing is a poorly maintained sham of an ideal living situation. I already knew it was a step down from the Camden apartments I lived in for 3 years but the price seemed to be worth it. It was not. We were not allowed to see our particular apartment before we moved in, and its condition was nowhere near the condition of the model we had seen. We later learned from one of the maintenance guys that the tenants before us had been evicted for their living habits and it was evident that Sommerset Place did not try very hard to get it ready for us. Ownership of the complex changed halfway through our lease and I was excited to have a more hands on management company, but Pegasus is actually worse than the previous owners. It took them over FOUR months to get their website set-up, so you could not pay rent or get anything fixed in your apartment online. We had a bug infestation problem that took them 3 weeks to fix. We received notice in March to please remove personal belongings from our porch, because they were repairing the outside with paint and new siding and promised it would take 5 days. Work is still going on now and it is June 7. And it's ridiculous to even call it work... Some buildings have splashes of paint on them and some are halfway completed and some have not even been touched. The kicker is they suddenly pay attention to detail when you are moving out and they want to screw you. I have never been moved to write any sort of review online at all until this morning, because I have had it with this company and hope that people stop renting from them and they tank. Do not live here, there are so many beautifully maintained places to live in Raleigh with caring and attentive staff. This is not one of them.
