Creighton University

The university runs a shuttle through the school’s campus and the areas around it. They run every 20 minutes and are one of the most popular ways for students who don’t live in dorms to get to class. There are also Metro Area Transit (MAT) buses (such as 11, 2, and 15) that stop near the campus and can take students around Omaha. Whether you want to find a rental next to campus in downtown, in Fairfax to the northwest, in Riverview to the southeast, or Beals to the southwest, you will be able to commute using just MAT buses and/or campus shuttles. Creighton sits directly west of Omaha’s downtown area, which has some of the worst crime in the city. In fact, most of eastern Omaha has higher crime rates than the city’s average. The safest neighborhood are located in the middle and western parts of the city. I would recommend looking for rentals in neighborhoods like Hillsborough, Millard, Elkhorn, and West Omaha. These communities are further from Creighton than areas like Midtown or Saratoga, but they have much lower crime rates.

Methodology

Each month, using over 1 million Rentable listings across the United States, we calculate the median 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom rent prices by city, state, and nation, and track the month-over-month percent change. To avoid small sample sizes, we restrict the analysis for our reports to cities meeting minimum population and property count thresholds.
