On the Brooklyn campus of NYU-Poly, the only crimes to occur in the past few years are burglaries, two assaults, and numerous alcohol referrals. There were no hate crimes, sex offenses, murders, etc, on campus or in the residence halls. In the area of Brooklyn where Poly is located, the crime rate is not especially high. There are blocks near this University that are have slightly higher crime rates on paper, but in general, when Brooklyn comes to mind, the most dangerous area is agreed to be the East New York, as well as Bushwick, Bed-Stuy, and Brownsville. Brooklyn is home to a vast array of annual events. From the Brooklyn Book Festival to the Great GoogaMooga food festival, there is a celebration for everything under the sun. Bayfest is a big waterfront music festival, the New York Photo Festival, the BEAT Festival, and the BoCoCa Arts Festival are just a few of this city’s special celebrations.
