New York City is home to many annual festivals and street fairs. Every month, there are annual events, from the Lunar New Year in January, to New Year’s Eve in Times Square, New York City is full of events. The Westminster Dog Show is a nationally televised event, but if you want to be right amid the action, attend the St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Pride Week Parade, Puerto Rican Parade, Halloween Parade, and so many more. There is a festival for everything you can think of, including Chocolate, Anime, Trains, Dragon Boats, Cherry Blossoms, Food, and Antiques! New York City isn’t exactly known for its climate; winters are cold and gray, and summers are very hot and humid. Hurricanes can occasionally reach up to NYC, though New Yorkers more likely have to be aware of snowstorms. Flooding is becoming more and more of a concern as the sea level slowly creeps up, and more frequent storms causing storm surges.

Methodology

Each month, using over 1 million Rentable listings across the United States, we calculate the median 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom rent prices by city, state, and nation, and track the month-over-month percent change. To avoid small sample sizes, we restrict the analysis for our reports to cities meeting minimum population and property count thresholds.
