Let me go ahead and give the first level headed review here. I desperately wanted someone to reassure me of this so I'll say it: This company / these people are NOT a scam. If you just found your dream apartment and were told it was through this place and came here don't let the bad reviews turn you away. I signed a lease and paid deposit and rent. After this I couldn't get a hold of them again to contact my landlord to confirm my move in date or get my keys. I was worried to death that I fell for a scam but in the end it all turned out alright.
That said, they have bad reviews for a reason. Their business isn't great. They hardly ever pick up the phone and definitely won't back to your voicemails. When I finally showed up in person they didn't even know who I was despite trying to get in touch with them for a while. Their office is pretty gross and while the lady who helped me out was formal her coworkers were loud and rude to other customers I heard them dealing with. The bad reviews aren't unjustified, just a little hyperbolized.
Just know you only deal with them once and then it'll be your new landlord from then on out. I adore my new spot, it's clean and a month into my lease I have no complaints. In the end, being at a spot I love was definitely worth the hassle of going through LA Rentals.

I lived in a unit at 443 S Catalina the entire time my home was infested with roaches. I notified the landlord whom stated he would take care of the issue ignored my request for services. Come to find out after calling the health department and filling a case in small claims court. I won my case because the living conditions are terrible and the landlord lied about knowing there was an infestation. The same day i won they also filled for an eviction so not only did they not make the unit habitable but they tried to retaliate against me. In the end they were forced to refund all of my money with them giving me the time to find another place within two weeks. That was the only time they ever worked with me in the time Ive lived there. I wouldnt recommend them to my worst enemy. Ha well maybe I would thats how bad it is.

We love our little aparment. No it isn't perfect but we really lucked out with our space. Jay was our agent that helped us and, although a little cold at first, he really is super nice and helpful. He gave us a list of apartments in our price range we could go visit that day, held our spot with a small deposit (which saved our apartment because it was very competitive that day) and even pro-rated the rent because we had to come mid-way through the month. He is great, and even now that we have to move before our lease is up (a new job) jay has once again been very helpful in the selling process too. He is great!

But after that, any problems that I had I didn't have any support to solve, was all by myself. All problems that I have are in the others reviews, like bad bugs, rats, bugs, tint everywhere, stupid managers...................
My big regard is didn't read the Yelp reviews before rent it. Now I have more 3 months of leasing and I'm trying to get out and get my deposit refound by lawyer help. I fell totally unrespected as a client. Don't do the same mistake that I did

We came to la from Sacramento and the Jay was super nice and willing to work with us we got to see the apartment right away then came back to the office to sign the lease and put a small down payment to hold the spot which went to the deposit. He even pro rated us because we couldn't make it to town by the time they closed, very helpful and friendly! They even give you a listing of spots and best part is you don't have to pay for a membership! I love my new town and my apartment!

He basically put me on hold for 15mins probably more if I didn't hang up. I called back as if I was a different person and he told me the apt wasn't available anymore without me telling him what residence I was talking about first. I don't see how these people are still in business especially after reading the other reviews. I mean, bed bugs!! I have a 1 yr old son.... I don't think so!!

All brokers are rude and unprofessional and even so is the manager.
When I talked to the manager, he just kept saying his words and didn't listen to me.
Even though I didn't broach about cancellation of the contract with them,
the employee asked whether I wanted to cancel it or not, lied to me about the broker's working day, and didn't convey about appointment to another broker.
Moreover, he refused to show me the contract paper which the manager alleged it was agreement. Dammit!!!
How could they handle the task like this? I can't understand their attitudes.
VERY VERY RUDE. I am gonna report about it so that I can refund it because it's disgusting.

i called to get more information about an aprtment. i spoke to a guy who was rude, and didnt want to help. i let him know i didnt have much of a budget but was curious if they took a sec8 voucher he said and no then hung up. i called back to let him know im still interested he picked up then hung up. i called a 3x and asked for the manager he said no, shes in the office. i said can i get her name or her # he said no then hung up. i called again and he said hold on ill get her put me on music hold for 30mins. tried it again from a diff# asked for manager put me on hold for another 20mins...he treated me sooo wrong and i just want to move...jerk!
