Find a Fremont Apartment

Fremont is a relatively modern community. Technically, it has only been around since 1956 when five small towns officially merged into the new town. Fremont is sometimes associated with Silicon Valley, as it is the closest city in East Bay to the technological hub. The city is home to in the neighborhood of 220,000 people.

Despite the amalgamation of the five towns, each remains a separate district with its own distinct flavor. One of the beautiful things about living in Fremont is getting to experience the local flair that each of its districts has developed. For example historic Mission San Jose features one of the oldest missions in the state. Niles on the other hand, feels like a small town, where neighbors know each other and small local flea markets and bargain stores can flourish.

When to Search

Applying for an apartment in Fremont is always going to offer a bit of a challenge because of the low available of rental property. The best time to look is probably between February and May. That might sound like a large window, but because there aren't that many apartments, it can be useful to give yourself that much time to shop around.

Staying in the Know

Fremont landlords want to know that you're a responsible tenant. If you're not in school or don't have a job, you're going to have a hard time convincing them that you'll make a good renter. On the other hand, if you can present them with a letter of employment or a confirmation of enrolment at a University or College, you show that you're a person that they can rent to with a little more confidence.

Life in Fremont

Transportation

Getting around Fremont is a bit of a problem. The bus routes do not run frequently except during peak commuting hours. The city is very spread out, which makes car travel the best way to navigate Fremont. However, if you can avoid it, stay off of I-880 and I-680 during the highest traffic hours, as they get extremely congested.

Where to play

Central Park has beautiful paved trails to enjoy with friends or family. You can also rent boats and get out on Lake Elizabeth. To see some local history, tour the ancient Mission San Jose and the museum that accompanies it. Fremont has excellent Chinese, Vietnamese and Indian food. Some of the best p laces line Walnut Avenue, Mowry Avenue and Fremont Boulevard.
