I love calling Colonial home..... I love the newly renovated apartments here.... The leasing staff are always friendly and willing to help in anyway possible.... The maintenance staff are punctual and they always work hard to get any issues fixed in a timely manner..... I have been a resident here since 2009, and I don't plan on leaving anytime soon. Thank you so much to the leasing staff and maintenance staff for all that you all do!

I have been living in Colonial since July 2017 and have loved it! There have been maintenance issues given the age of the apartments, but the office has responded and fixed these issues very promptly. The apartments are spacious and in a prime location in Durham! My husband and I feel very safe in the neighborhood and the recently added night time security has been a great help as well. My favorite part of living in this neighborhood is my neighbors. They are wonderful people from around the world and make this somewhat large apartment complex feel like home. Couldn't recommend living here more!

My friend resides here with her children. Her heat has been out for days. The maintenance guy informed her that she would have to wait until Tuesday for service. Her unit is not habitable. Needless to say, one of her children is medically fragile. The maintenance guy came out and promised to come back the next day. It appears the motor needs to be replaced, the maintenance made the fan spin and later her heat was out again. She even purchased heaters last night in an attempt to warm her home and had the children share her bed with her. These are freezing temperatures and this is completely inhuman.

Jewelry was stolen out my apartment and I have no idea what happened to it while it sat on my table. Dont happen to fall behind hard times, the rent doubles with attorneys fees............PARKING (TOWING IS ENFORCED) I REPEAT (TOWING IS ENFORCED).....SO MANY FRIENDS AND FAMILY GOT TOWED FROM MY PLACE B/C OF LIMITED VISITORS PARKING SPACE.!!!!!!!!! OFFICE WAS (AT THE TIME) RUDE! OH yea and someone is shot around the corner every other day! Hide your kids

The staff here are friendly but the responsiveness to maintenance issues is terrible. Close friends of mine, refugees from Africa, live here and are taken advantage of every step of the way because of their lack of cultural conditioning to predatory practices. Be warned...if this is all you can afford I understand but I'd avoid this place if at all possible.

We were in dire need of a place to stay and colonial appeared to have a few vacancies within our time range, so we applied. The application process was pretty standard, though it seemed like most of the time was taken to verify rental history. The staff seemed to be very courteous and helpful throughout the process. On move in day, we had very minor issues that were handled very quickly. For example, the washer was in the laundry room, but the dryer was in the kitchen. We spoke with the office about that and within the next two - three days, maintenance had installed a new front-loading washer and dryer in the laundry room (which I love, by the way) We have had a few other maintenance issues which have been handled quickly, for the most part. We did report a toilet issue that took a while to be addressed, but once I called the office to complain, they came out the same day to fix it. We recently had some issues with parking and towing (READ READ READ your parking rules !!!) but once again, the office staff assisted us to the best of their ability. The roads could be repaved, but I'm sure thats up to the county and not the community. Overall, the community is well. I haven't had issues with any other residents. I haven't had issues with pests. I think it was our best option in terms of rent, footage, and amenities.

I was a prospective resident. I had been communicating with their leasing consultant, Stephanie. I was told numerous times that they would have an apartment available for me. However, after I applied online, all the sudden they had nothing available. I called to speak to her about it but she was on the phone with another customer at the time. As I am in the process of writing a follow up email about everything and provide her with the information that she requested I received an email that was meant for another employee but was accidentally sent to me. In that email she referred to me as "that b****" with 5 exclamation marks at the end. I immediately called to talk to a supervisor and the woman I talked to wasn't really apologetic at all. If that's how you liked to be referred to behind your back (or in accidentally sent emails) than this is the place for you.

Colonial Townhouse Apartments have that cute dated look from a past era, but the interiors are just as nice as any other comparable complex in the area. It's in a great location, close to Duke and all the surrounding businesses and shops. The people in the leasing office are extremely nice and professional. We interact minimally but I've never had a problem or felt neglected as a resident. I get a lot of space on two floors for the price I pay here, and my friends are shocked when I tell them how little my rent is.

I have to be completely honest and say that I truly learned the meaning of "you get what you pay for" here. We've lived in this community for 4 years because of economic hardship but in hind-sight, we would have opted for somewhere else. In fairness, the pros are that some of the staff members are nice and the rooms are fairly large. However, these just are not enough for the cheap upkeep of the property in general, the bug problems, and the old construction of the buildings. Our family had to endure an entire year of our neighbor's extreme smoking habit into our apartment. It was so bad that we had to get legal assistance just to get someone from property management and corporate to take it seriously and even that didn't resolve it because they were only willing to move us to another apartment, in which we were just ready to leave but could not afford to do at the time. This community is not suited to accommodate families but many families move here anyway. There is no place for the children to play but in the limited courtyards there. Toys are left over the outside property. The property management/maintenance have only left one notice the entire 4 years that we've lived there and still have not exercised the warning against items being left on the grounds. The parking rule, for the most part, is understandable but when you have neighbors that have more than the maximum cars allowed, it takes away from the parking spaces and you are forced to park further away from your building in visitor parking. The office staff is a little disorganized and the maintenance staff, though many of them are nice, have left a number of our maintenance requests ignored prior to us moving out. What I will say is that you should do your homework before moving anywhere, especially here. If you are trying to save a little money, I suggest you discover all your options first before considering this property. In my opinion, the recent rent that they are asking is not worth it, especially for the quality of living there. Check the other reviews as well. I wish I could have shared a better review since I have lived here for a while with my family but had I taken the advice that was given to me by many people who tried to tell me about this property, I would have moved on.

Extremely poor. i take issue with their parking rules I had a friends vehicle towed at 4 in the morning. My friend showed up at 3am parked came into my apartment got up at 6 to find the car gone. No notice no warning calls to office got the response that its in the lease, well my friend did not sign that lease and you at least expect a illegal parking warning before having your car towed. They said they would call the towing company to get the car released, well they didn't after waiting for hours called the office back left messages total blackout no response whatsoever regarding this. Eventually had to pay the towing company $175 when it states that they charge $125, i guess the extra $50 is perhaps a kickback? I think its just one more way of fleecing hardworking people off of their money, by creating rules that cannot be followed because you cannot get a parking pass at 3 in the morning!!...totally ridiculous! I have made a complaint to to consumer protection division because i believe this is illegal and borders on criminal.

My boyfriend and I have been living in this comlex for aprox. 1 & 1/2 years. They don't show you your actual unit until you sign the lease and get the keys, other than that, you expect your townhome to look like the model. We did one walk through & requested another unit. They said NO. So I scraped grout, cleaned tiles, fixed stick on tile floors, Caulked wide open holes around tube connections, etc. Even built a beautiful console to hide the dryer in the kitchen. After all the work I shouldn't have had to do, I now have a lovely unit. Ever since moving in, My boyfriend and I have both noticed that if we are in our home for long periods of time, we feel sick with respiratory issues slight fevers, headaches, lack of energy. But the symptoms go away after leaving home. We have asked the office several times to clean the air ducts, only to be told no each time. We decided to just pay for it our selves. When the guys got here they took the cover off the unit in the utility room and gasped. The entire system was covered with mold. No one has cleaned the unit since 1966. They said they have never seen anything that bad. Due to this little surprise, a $59 visit was going to cost $600. I immediately called my attorney and went to the office. ONLY AFTER THREAT OF LITIGATION THEY DECIDED TO DO THE RIGHT THING AND PAY FOR THE CLEANING. Another issue I have with this complex is the fact that they did not disclose that they have a deal with a program called The Cascade Program of Durham, which houses drug addicted mothers and drug addicted pregnant women. THEY HAVE 20+ TOWNHOMES all around my unit. They are loud, obnoxious, curse loudly in the street with their children present, leave babies in the rain, cold, etc. just so they dont have to take them up 8 stairs. I've seen children get physically abused on a regular basis. And the mama's sneak around smoking crack & whatever else. And the signs say students welcome!!!! Yeah right, students welcome to move in and get robbed! If you move in here make sure you have a shotgun or pistol handy at all times... NOT KIDDING!

I absolutely living here. I have requested that they come fix my air condtioning, dryer (because it doesn't dry properly) and some other minor other repairs. They only came in and fixed one minor problem. I had my laundry room door closed and opened late yesterday afternoon and saw that there was water leaking from the ceiling. I called and requested emergency maintenance and then went into the office. They claimed that someone had to be in the apartment on weekends for anyone from maintenance to come (Might I add I work 2nd Shift) when I had called early that morning and waited all day for someone to show up. Plus I asked if someone could at least come cut off the water at least before I left for work. The people in the office seem to have a care less attitude and do not make sure their residents are taken care of. Most of my neighbors are quiet but I have some problems with some stuff that the apartment complex did not disclose when I moved into my apartment that they should have asked before I took an apartment. Anyways beware. Price is right but that is all.
