Downtown Dayton Neighborhood Summary

Dayton’s reputation is for suburban sprawl, but the last 20 years have seen a concerted revitalization effort downtown. The area is the city’s economic and business center, with over 42,000 workers clocking in daily at some of the area’s largest corporate employers. More than a few of those workers are moving downtown, attracted by new residential developments in close proximity to some of Dayton’s best cultural offerings, like The Dayton Art Institute and the Schuster Performing Arts Center, home to Dayton’s opera, ballet, and symphony. Mixed-use developments like TechTown, a 40-acre development aimed at bringing tech startups downtown, are aimed at continuing the trend.

Each month, using over 1 million Rentable listings across the United States, we calculate the median 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom rent prices by city, state, and nation, and track the month-over-month percent change. To avoid small sample sizes, we restrict the analysis for our reports to cities meeting minimum population and property count thresholds.
