West Los Angeles College

Culver City’s buses serve West LA’s campus from Monday to Friday, from 7AM to 10PM (with shortened hours on Friday). The buses are very reliable, and though they don’t run on the weekend they can be used for your everyday commute on class days during the week. Also, the Metro Expo commuter train connects Culver City to popular spots like downtown LA, Long Beach, Pasadena, and more. It’s a definite plus if your apartment allows you to tap into these public transportation resources in your commute to the school. West Los Angeles College is close to some of the city’s most dangerous areas. You might have heard of the crime reputation in nearby South Los Angeles and areas like Compton or Inglewood. There’s a lot of gang history there, and it’s considered by many to be one of the most dangerous parts of the entire country. If you’re looking for an off-campus apartment, no matter how cheap the rent is I wouldn’t recommend living in that area. Instead, look northwest of Culver City in West LA, which is a pretty safe area overall.
