So far my wife and I are coming up on a year here at Pine Gate Apartments and we love it. We looked at a lot for apartments in Chapel Hill that were close to the highway for me to go to work/school, and still quick for her to get to UNC and we stopped looking after we found Pine Gate. We've experienced very quick, kind maintenance when necessary and homely resident services in the office. Pine Gate is continually improving the community here; in the last year they have re-paved the roads, added bike lock-ups at each building, redone the roofs, and are always on top of resident feedback such as parking and how things can be improved. This is our first apartment experience but we are quite pleased with the experience and especially for the low prices here.

We were nervous about moving into an apartment complex after only living in private houses and apartments before this but honestly, Pinegate has been SO GOOD. We had to move in sight unseen since we were moving from out of state (and only for 6 months) but everything has gone off without a hitch. It worked especially well for us because we were able to get the utilities and furnishings included in our base rent per month. It was EASILY the most cost-effective option and has been way better and way cheaper than any other corporate short-term housing we could find within a 20 mile radius of the RTP area. The only complaint we have is that the bathroom still smells like cigarette smoke, even after our VERY thorough cleaning.

I have refrained from writing this review due to fear of retaliation, I am finally covered legally so here you all go! This is an updated review as I have now been living here for a year. The first six/seven months in Pinegate was great, Donald, former maintenance guy and Sabrina, former leasing consultant, were awesome! The first issue I had was the neighbors downstairs playing music all times of the night, I complained and eventually something was done. What rubbed me the wrong way about Pinegate is the lack of respect they've shown. A few months back I made a complaint and was told I would be contacted by the Area Manager, because the Property Manager is pretty much worthless at this point, no disrespect to the other two ladies in the office! I never heard from anyone. I have experienced lots of different bugs in my apartment even after they say they've sent the exterminator. I and people that have stayed with me have experienced bug bites and was told it may have been from spiders. I do not keep a dirty place and the most recent spider was in my closet chilling on the wall with my clothes! If I wouldn't have went into my closet last night it could've calmly crawled off the wall and into my bed or latch on to my clothes. I expected some bugs being as though the complex is by trees but what I have been seeing the last few months has just been a bit much. Further, I came outside one day to my vehicle, after complaining to the Property Manager, and there was a beer bottle and can sitting by my passenger door, could've been just chance but I don't believe that. I have pulled on two occasions and one of the maintenance men along with a neighbor just stares at me, now tell me how comfortable any of you females would feel having that happen to you. I mind my business and stay to myself yet it seems when I speak up about certain things I am the bad person. As I stated, the two current leasing consultants are GREAT, however, I DO feel they deserve a better manger because the one now is very condescending and will make you feel as if she is paying your rent! On to the good, they have made some improvements but not many to the actual apartments themselves. My bathroom vent is loose because it seems as if whoever put it in did a poor job doing so. The renovations are not perfect but they are livable conditions. I honestly love my apartment just would like do away with unnecessary drama because I chose to complain. That is not fair to me as a resident nor as a taxpayer, I am a student and work full time and would like to be comfortable in the place that I HAVE TO PAY FOR, not anyone else.

So the other reviews about the towing of cars is really not the apartment managements fault. First, before you move in, you show them your registration and they give you a sticker. If you have more than two cars, you can get temp passes as long as you have a current registration. I lived at Pinegate 15 months and was very happy. It's not expensive, and it's decent. We had all new appliances, an awesome washer and dryer, and the whole time I was there I never saw a bug. Maintenance was always nice. I recommend touring the property with management so you can view each available space. We looked at about five, and found the one we really liked.
