After a poor experience at another apartment complex in the South End, we moved to The Girard and are so glad we did. The building is really solid. We never heard anything from neighbors on either side or below, very rarely heard anything from the hallways, and only occasionally heard muffled sound of people upstairs walking around, but it was very minimal compared to any other apartment or condo we've ever lived where we've been below people. The apartments have nice quality finishes and decent appliances and the large windows are great. We were on the non-sunny side and it was still nice and bright during the day and had really good energy efficiency. The staff, from the leasing and management office to the concierge to the maintenance team were really great -- nice people and very responsive. The only real negative was that we moved there a month before COVID really took hold and the amenities (gym, large common room, roof deck) were either shut down or limited throughout our time there because of COVID regulations. That's not anyone at The Girard's fault, but the communication and handling of it from Equity Apartments (the parent company) could have been better. Obviously having things shut down because of a pandemic is (hopefully) a one-time thing that won't happen again (please...let's not have it happen again!). We moved because we bought, but would definitely live there again.

We moved into the Girard a few weeks ago and have been very happy so far. The apartments are very nice, building is clean with nice amenities, and most importantly the team is very helpful. Martin in particular has gone out of his way from the beginning of our process in looking to making sure we are satisfied throughout our move in. It is a nice community and very glad we made the choice!

On the eve of Christmas we would like to greet the staff of Girard at 50 Malden St. My special warm greetings are to our concierge Marisa McGill. We have been watching how she works practically starting from her first evening shift. We had an emergency when the fire system went out of order at night and couldnt be turned off. Marisa was composed, yet compassionate, doing her best to contact the people on the emergency list, checking and re-checking what else could be done. Marisa is at the front desk, she is the face of Girard and she is the first person to greet residents and guests. She brings the sunshine and treats people with great respect and attention. She always finds a few words to encourage people, to offer help and to remind about parcels. She is a lovely person, open, hard working and a sunny soul. She creates a very positive atmosphere and one feels at home the moment the threshold is crossed. We think she is a great asset to the team and deserves to be praised for her work at Girard.
