Emmanuel College

Emmanuel College’s campus is located near the MBTA’s Fenway stop on the D (subway) line and the Longwood Medical Area and Brigham Circle stops on the E line. Both of these lines are subsections of the larger Green Line which is by far the largest, busiest, and most notorious (for its problems) in Boston. Students often live along the Green Line in other parts of the city like Allston, Mission Hill, and the Kenmore area. Because these neighborhoods have so many students, there are plenty of cheap housing opportunities and public transportation coverage. Emmanuel students don’t have the benefit of going to a “party school,” but in a large college city like Boston this doesn’t matter much. Most of the events they go to on the weekends are thrown by social organizations at other schools like Boston University, Northeastern University, and MIT. However, there are also small parties thrown at student apartments in neighborhoods like Mission Hill and Allston. If parties aren’t your thing, Boston is one of the major hubs of culture on the East Coast, with plenty of top-tier museums, theaters, music venues, and sports events.

Methodology

Each month, using over 1 million Rentable listings across the United States, we calculate the median 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom rent prices by city, state, and nation, and track the month-over-month percent change. To avoid small sample sizes, we restrict the analysis for our reports to cities meeting minimum population and property count thresholds.
