I moved to Athens with the military and lived in my apartment for less than a year when they transferred me again. The office staff and especially Angelina were extremely helpful during both of my transitions and made sure that I was not charged any extra fees since the Army ordered my move. The apartments are simple but nice and they have garages on site that are rare for the area. The grounds are well maintained and any maintenance issues I had were fixed promptly. The area is quiet and the management staff works hard to provide quality service.

Great apartments! Great community! My husband and I unexpectedly moved to Athens and needed to find a place to live ASAP, which proved challenging...until, that is, we tried Legacy Mill! One of the leasing office managers, Angelina Cantrell, went above and beyond to help us find the perfect apartment as quickly as possible, and throughout our transition. The complex is clean, QUIET, and has tons of green space, which is fantastic for pets. Additionally, maintenance was quick to reply, when needed. Can't recommend Legacy Mill highly enough!

If I could give 0 stars I would!!! Its cold and the parking lots and side walks are icy. Due to the surfaces slickness, there is a chance that youll fall down at a faster speed, I slipped a few times walking to my apartment. To state the obvious, the ground is really hard and does not give when our bodies hit it. Slipping and falling on ice is different than falling at other times because of the velocity in which we fall and hit the ground. This means that we hit the ground super-fast and super-hard. For this (obvious) reason I requested that the staff in front office, salt the parking lots and side walks as to prevent obvious injuries to their residents. The manager of the leasing office (who is always very unpleasant and extremely unprofessional) said there is nothing they can do and refused to make the parking lots and sidewalks safe for their residents. Once they get your money the staff in the leasing office couldnt care less about you. Also aside from not caring about residents safety there is also a rampant roach problem that they refuse to fix. It took months to be placed on their extermination list because bugs are common according to the manager in the leasing office who refused to place us on the list for pest control since apparently I didnt see enough roaches to classify for a pest control spraying of my unit. There were several bugs upon moving in varying from large roaches to scorpions. Roaches reproduce at a rapid rate and produce a pungent, musty odor that gets worse the longer the infestation goes on. There are also odors arising from dead roaches as oleic acid is produced during decomposition. Roach odors linger in the air and can even affect the taste of food, not to mention that they harbor diseases as well. I could go on and on about how the walls are too thin, or about how the place is so old that the AC/ Heat does not work AT ALL, or how you should expect the breaker to chip at least twice every month and how your food will spoil every time the breaker chips since maintainence is slower than molasses, but I wont go on about those issues. This was a long enough review, but was an accurate and honest depiction of my experience here.

Will not renew the lease, have lived here for almost a year. My personal experience: Maintenance: Good, although the fact that you can't schedule an exact time for them to come (because you have pets or for another reason) is very annoying. However, the constant problems with gates kind of negate the concept of a gated community - gates are wide open. Pest control: Good, we haven't had a problem. Parking: Horrible. Disability spots not enforced, parking in general is not enforced - rednecks park their trucks with trailers across six parking spots and nobody cares. Residents keep all of their vehicles, sometimes 3 or more, next to their buildings, thus preventing others from parking there. Noise: Bad. Walls are paper thin, and if you are unlucky enough to have college students or families with children living next to you, well, you're in for some bad time. Also noise control is not enforced - people blaring their car stereos (in violation of Athens-Clarke County noise ordnances), loud, LOUD motorcycles and trucks, the list goes on. Area: Good. Trash: Bad, they have a huge dumpster next to one of the residential buildings, it stinks like death, especially in summer. Customer service: OK. The staff are very nice, but the aforementioned negative things are totally in their control. Security: Good, although the 'courtesy officer' with ACCPD will often not respond to calls, especially noise complaints. Rent: Price is ok, but I hear they keep raising the rent every year. Bottom line - not a great community. Will not recommend or rent here again.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would!!! Avoid this place, please do yourself a favor and live somewhere else!! Where do I start? Read the entire review so you can get a full picture of the health concerns and roach infestation here. I went into a lot of detail about my experience her to give viewers a full picture of what they might expect if they decide to rent here! When I moved in they gave me defective gate cards it was impossible to get into the property for weeks they never replaced my cards for weeksand told me I had to drive around to the visitors gate which was on the opposite side of the property from where I lived rather than just giving me new cards. Next, my AC unit was broken on move in day (the day the unit was supposed to be "move-in" ready"), the indoor temperature was over 90 degrees and I had to sleep there for three nights with no AC because no one came out to address the issue until 3 days after I reported it to their staff. The ladies in the leasing office have deplorable customer service skills. On move in day I was unable to get my keys unless I provided proof of renters insurance which is understandable since it is their policy. When I provided the lady in the leasing office with my renters insurance policy number she denied me from getting my keys because she needed to see paper copies of my insurance policy, how unreasonable!! The icing on the cake is the big roach problem. I'm a very clean person and it is not the norm for there to roaches in my home wherever I've lived in the past. I should have known this would be an issue as soon I saw several dead roaches all throughout apartment the first day I moved in. The worst part is, is that the office staff is so rude and so unwilling to fix the issue and even went as far to deny us pest control after it was reported that we have a rampant amount of roaches. Once a cockroach moves in, it invites others, hatches eggs and soon after you have a full blown infestation. Cockroaches are known to carry diseases and can cause allergic reactions. Ever since I've lived here I've been waking up with several random red itchy bumps and my fingers and toes. You would think the office staff would be willing to help alleviate stress and even offer to transfer us to a different unit, but instead they denied us from being transferred due to their policy of "having to be in one unit for 6 months before having to transfer". There is no compassion, after they get you to sign your lease and they have your money they don't care about their residents!!

Maintenance staff is impeccable. They are quick and dependable. I've lived here for two and a half years total, and haven't got anything bad to say. The people who live here have a wide range of ages and occupations. Everyone is courteous and kind. The office personnel is always there to help, but you need to ask them for help. I think some of the negative comments have come from the entitled generation who want things handed to them. Anyway, Kelly Blank is incredible, Legacy would be wise to keep her at all costs. All of the staff at Legacy should be praised for their customer service. They even wrap gifts at Christmas for the residents, who does that? I've really enjoyed living there, it's just time to part company. Thank you Legacy Mills!!

I currently live in this complex and wanted to write my super honest review as it seems this place has been getting a lot of negative ones lately. Pro's: I have lived here since July and have mostly enjoyed my stay here. The residents are very nice and there is a wide age variety living here it seems. It stays pretty peaceful here, I haven't had one complaint about noise! There are a lot of dog owners here so my puppy has been able to make some friends too! They also have little dog stations placed conveniently behind all apartment buildings so if you walk out and forget a little doggy bag, there have provided some for you. They also gave us a key chain one that came loaded with bags! I live in a two bedroom apartment and I love having all of the storage/ closet space. If you need extra space for anything they do have garages available for I believe around $75 a month. Unless you happen to have extra furniture or something I don't see anyone needing that. I have not personally met the maintenance crew but every request I have put in was responded to in a timely manner. Con's: Well no place is perfect right? I am not a fan of the older style blinds in the living area. We had a problem with they kept falling off just from opening them up! it was a mess. That past time they came out in fixed them I don't know what they did differently but I haven;t had a problem since. Upon moving in my stove had not been cleaned out and there were crumbs all in the drawer below the oven. [yuck!] Also two eyes on my stove did not work. They came out to replace them but the eyes they replaced them with were slightly too big so they pot sits crooked on them, it;s more of an annoyance rather than an actual con but still the kitchen could use some slight updating. But honestly I am only in my early 20's so that doesn't bother me as much as it may some others. This isn't my first apartment and lets face it most landlords are crooks and I don;t expect to get my deposit back. I never have and haven't figured out why but check most reviews a lot of places don't give them back. Overall i would not consider this a bad place to live. We will most likely renew our lease next July for another year. I personally have never had a problem with the staff or anyone else here. I will leave 4 stars for now but at the end of my lease if I have anything new to say I will. I don;t understand how some people are so unhappy here. It's a great town and this apartment is close to a lot! It is absolutely worth your time to stop in and look around.

I honestly don't know what the other reviewers are talking about. I've lived in this complex for three years and have never had a problem. The apartments are in good order. They are cleaned and maintained. I've put in several maintenance requests over the years and they are always answered promptly and thoroughly. I've seen bug complaints, which I have experienced myself, but what many people don't realize is that it's nearly impossible to keep bugs out of an apartment building especially if your next door neighbor never takes his trash out. It isn't necessarily the fault of the management or pest control. It's just something you have to deal with when living in an apartment. And really, just buy a can of raid. I've always found the management to be pleasant and helpful. We had a problem with our bill a couple months ago. I forgot I had cancelled automatic payments so our rent was late. The management was helpful and not rude at all in dealing with that. I often use the pool and have noticed it is always clean and in good order. Honestly the main problem I've had has been that the gait is constantly breaking. They always fix it within a few days though and it's really not inconvenient to me, so it isn't a big deal. I would recommend this place to a friend.

I completely agree with the comments regarding the crappy property manager below. The customer service from this woman is in fact horrible and management is awful. The property manager is disrespectful and heartless. I second that, she is a pompous, irrational woman. They do not try to retain you as a tenant in regards to their treatment. They did not want to waive a $50 fee that was charged because the electric was not in my name on Saturday and instead was in my name the following Monday. She claimed that it was third party company who charges the fee even though I brought them the account number weeks prior. They never thought to mention that we have to also tell them to switch the account under our name prior to Saturday which would be Friday because the electric company is closed on the weekend. Her skills as a manager are lacking and she needs to be replaced because there are multiple tenants who do not like her. You know the saying, "you pay for what you get". She also asked me. "you are a grown man right?" I am a grown man with more education and a higher salary than her ass. She makes her living off the mistakes of people - deciding to live at Legacy Mills with her as manager. While she is an employee, I advise you take heed.

Well we still have 9 months left here and that sucks. NOTE you don't tour your apartment till after you sign a lease. It takes an act of god to get anything fixed, the flooring is so thin it sounds like elephants walking above my apartment day and night. I've had countless problems with bugs, electrical outlets, clogged showers, getting the apartment in completely terrible condition with paint on carpet among other things, constant loud highway noise. Honestly I could go on for days and the only thing that legacy mills has going for it is the location. Other than that ANY other apartment complex would offer same package and would take my chances elsewhere if that option came about. nothing against the actual leasing staff or the maintenance guy but the whole system above them its poorly managed.

In general, what you pay is always way overpriced for a 1 bedroom apartment but Legacy Mill was by far the cheapest I found, without sacrificing any quality. It was away from the university, which is definitely a plus. Hard to find a really nice place surrounding a university anywhere these days. My lease was just about the summer of 2013-2014 and I paid just under $600 for rent, pest control, and trash. That being said, I have no idea if I just got a really good rate, or if they were trying to get me in the door and then up my rate next year (which would be this year now). The renewal rate for my lease was more by quite a bit. If I recall correctly the price went from $576 (no trash and no pest) to $642 (no trash and no pest). No thanks, Legacy. My only complaint, which only came about as I decided to leave was the clause in the contract stating I needed to give them 60 days notice. Every other place I've lived in (granted, all outside of Georgia) if I didn't sign a lease they assumed I was leaving. They couldn't just renew me for anything. Legacy Mill, on the other hand, renewed me for an absurd monthly rate of $909. Fortunately, I wasn't too far away from the 60 day notice so I'll only be paying a portion of that for next month but it's seriously upsetting that I have to throw away a LOT of money to have an empty apartment. I won't really badmouth Legacy for this, because it IS in the leasing contract. I just flat out think it's a bad way of doing business. Besides that, I've enjoyed my time at Legacy. It's very quiet. Everyone keeps to themselves for the most part from what I've noticed. Parking has been a problem like twice the entire year. And really, it was never that I couldn't find a spot, it was just a little further away than I am used to. As far as maintenance, I can't really speak on that. I never had them come do anything minus program a garage door opener for me. They did do that the same day I asked to rent it. (Garages only need a 30 day notice to end that rental. Ha.) There is a good amount of poop (from dogs) near the wooded area and stuff like that, but that's to be expected anywhere. Not everyone cleans up after their dog, regardless of warnings and threats of fines. It's not too bad in the grassy area or sidewalk where people who are just walking to walk would normally venture through. Another important thing that Legacy provides is a feeling of safety. Not once did I feel unsafe at night. It's a gated community and that helps in keeping people who don't belong out. Oh, it could also be that people with a GPS are taken to the wrong side of the highway loop. The address never shows up right. Overall, I'd definitely recommend Legacy, just be prepared to pay a higher rate if you plan on staying more than a year. I'm glad I found this cheaper place because the rent, with an additional garage payment ($65/month), would have been quite high for my liking.
