The University of Tampa

At UT, just over half of the students have their own cars on campus. It’s helpful to have a vehicle, but it’s far from necessary. Stops for buses that can take you around the city are lined up on the borders of the campus, and all the areas of the city around downtown are walkable from campus. In fact, Walk Score, a site that measures how walkable a given neighborhood is, gave UT a 91/100 and called it a walker’s paradise. Many students try to look for rentals that are within walking distance of campus so they don’t need to rely on vehicles, buses, or any other type of transportation. If you’re lucky enough to find a great place nearby, you will find that walking is simpler, healthier, and nearly always pleasant in the sunny Tampa weather. UT’s campus is a three minute walk from Downtown Tampa--all you have to do is walk across the West Kennedy Boulevard bridge and you’re there! If you want to take the bus, it’s just two stops away. Students often take advantage of this great access on the weekend and enjoy downtown’s plentiful cultural activities. In the past decade or so, Tampa’s culture has surged to the level of other prominent Southern cities like Atlanta and Orlando. There are great music and art scenes to go with the usual establishments like movie theaters, shops, and restaurants. As a student at UT, you will have the best of both worlds: a great campus for academics, and you will be footsteps away from Tampa’s thriving downtown area.

Methodology

Each month, using over 1 million Rentable listings across the United States, we calculate the median 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom rent prices by city, state, and nation, and track the month-over-month percent change. To avoid small sample sizes, we restrict the analysis for our reports to cities meeting minimum population and property count thresholds.
