I've lived in Saxton for roughly 2.5 years and am about to renew my lease for another year. I find a lot of the reviews here are not really helpful to prospective residents, so wanted to make one that is. Overall, I have loved living here, but wanted to provide some details on pros and cons to be aware of. Location: Very Good. I love that you can walk to Downtown, Capitol Hill, International District, etc. There are countless amenities: gyms, restaurants, coffee shops, stores, etc. within walking distance. Only small issue is the lack of restaurants within the immediate few blocks - you'll need to walk a bit. One downside is that you'll need to travel a bit to access green space - not many parks nearby. Amenities: Excellent. The gym is fairly large and well-equipped. It's never been so busy that I can't work out. Rooftop deck is a little small, but nice. Plenty of other community spaces, but I personally haven't used them too much. Units: I love how efficient the floor plans are here! Also, in-unit appliances have had minimal problems and the finishes are nice. Packages: The building utilizes Fetch, which is a service that you send your packages to (separate address). They hold your packages and then you use an app to schedule delivery straight to your apartment door (you can request you be present or they just drop off). Fetch is mandatory for packages here. I personally love it as I order a lot online and this makes my life super easy - especially when out of town as Fetch can hold your packages for a while. That said, I know for some residents do not like it. Personally, I've never had any issues with it. Parking: The garage is decent. The spaces are a bit small, but that is pretty common for urban buildings. The garage door has broken somewhat frequently in the past year, but management has addressed this by hiring security guards while they wait for parts to have it fixed. Staff: The office is open 5 days a week. The leasing/management staff are very nice and helpful, but they are often quite busy. It would be great if the owner could hire more. Maintenance: The maintenance team is awesome and have quickly responded to all requests! Cleanliness: I'd give this maybe a 4/5. I see the staff cleaning quite frequently, but I think some residents could learn to be better community citizens! Noise: Poor. There are tons of very loud ambulances at all hours of the day. Especially in the summer when you will want your windows open, I would highly recommend playing white noise while you sleep. It can also be somewhat disruptive if you are working from home and have a lot of Zoom calls. Grocery: You can walk to either Whole Foods and QFC in about 10 and 15 min respectively. Grocery delivery to the building is also efficient. Other than those, you may need to drive.

The building is nice, and the staff is helpful, but Saxton uses a bad package delivery service called Fetch. If you want packages delivered to your apartment, you have to have them delivered to Fetch. With Fetch, you have two delivery options. The first is called 'Leave At Door', where Fetch presumably delivers packages as soon as possible. The problem with 'Leave At Door' is that you risk someone stealing your package. Residents have reported issues with this option for that exact reason. The second option is scheduling a delivery during a two-hour window. During the week, the delivery windows are 12 - 2 PM, 4 - 6 PM, 6 - 8 PM, and 8 - 10 PM. I have only chosen the second option because I'm afraid of theft. The downside to the second option is you have to wait for the package, the package might be delivered outside the two-hour window, or the package might not be delivered at all. Saxton used to manage packages in-house before they hired Fetch. The in-house package management had its problems, but it was significantly better for me. I hope they drop Fetch and return to handling packages themselves.

I'm pleasantly surprised with my experience at Saxton. I live on the 2nd floor facing the courtyard. When my windows are shut I never hear anything outside or from my neighbors. The soundproofing is incredible. In the summertime with my windows open I hear the din of voices from the courtyard and city noises making my home have a European feel. The location is superb- walking distance to everything and central to all you need to get to. I would have stayed here another 5 years if I didn't find a condo to buy....The staff are easy going and clear communicators. The maintenance and cleaning crew are friendly, thorough at their jobs and make this a great community

It's a nice new building with awesome staff and high-quality amenities and appliances. I particularly appreciate the automatic fans in the bathrooms and kitchen area in our apartment. They really do come on and shut off on their own as needed. I'm impressed. Also, the building portal is actually used by the residents. People exchange stuff, ask and receive advice, etc Also, almost everyone has a dog (or more than one). The dogs get to know each other and so do their humans.
