Santa Clara University

Students at SCU should be thankful that they have more culinary options than students at other schools. The campus is close to downtown Santa Clara and Koreatown, which has some of the best Asian food in the San Jose metropolitan area. Also, downtown San Jose is just 3 miles away; a short drive, or bus/train ride away. Because San Francisco is considered such a foodie mecca, San Jose is often overlooked, but everywhere you go, there are wonderful restaurants! SCU’s campus is literally footsteps away from both the Santa Clara Caltrain Station and the University of Santa Clara station. There two places are a hub for buses and trains that can take you to nearby San Jose and beyond (even as far as Sacramento). San Francisco is a popular spot for students on the weekend, and on the train it’s just a 90 minute ride. Because of the campus’s connected access to public transportation, you can rent off-campus anywhere along the local train or bus lines, and you won’t even need a car to commute.

Methodology

Each month, using over 1 million Rentable listings across the United States, we calculate the median 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom rent prices by city, state, and nation, and track the month-over-month percent change. To avoid small sample sizes, we restrict the analysis for our reports to cities meeting minimum population and property count thresholds.
