San Diego Messa College

A first glance at rental data for the area--available on this site’s college page for SDMC--will probably be shocking to you. Average one bedrooms go for around $1,500, two bedrooms are $2,000, and $2,700 for three. The good news is that La Jolla, a nearby community that’s one of the most affluent in San Diego, and some of the rentals on the beach and near the bays over-inflate these averages. Truthfully, if you’re looking in the right neighborhoods, many of which are right near campus, renting in San Diego can be affordable for SDMC students. Every student prefers over a quick commute over a long one, especially when it’s hot and you’re sitting in city traffic, melting and wishing you lived closer to campus. Linda Vista, Sierra Mesa, Clairemont Mesa, Birdland, Bay Park, and Kearny Mesa are the closest neighborhoods to SDMC. Mission Valley, Mid-City, and Tierra Santa are communities that are further away, but the commute to SDMC is an easy one thanks to Interstates, 8, 805, and 15.

Each month, using over 1 million Rentable listings across the United States, we calculate the median 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom rent prices by city, state, and nation, and track the month-over-month percent change. To avoid small sample sizes, we restrict the analysis for our reports to cities meeting minimum population and property count thresholds.
