Truckee Meadows Community College

Despite what the satirical TV show Reno 911 leads you to believe, Reno is actually a safe city. Truckee Meadows is in northern Reno, which is, in my opinion, the safest part of the city--look no further if you’re debating where to rent in the area. There’s an abundance of rentals in the city, and it’s very easy to scoop one up in a nice part of town. If your search leads you outside of Reno, however, I would recommend Carson City. It’s a city that’s ranked even safer than Reno on Neighborhood Scout, and has an easy commute to Truckee Meadows.

Methodology

Each month, using over 1 million Rentable listings across the United States, we calculate the median 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom rent prices by city, state, and nation, and track the month-over-month percent change. To avoid small sample sizes, we restrict the analysis for our reports to cities meeting minimum population and property count thresholds.
