Find a Newark Apartment

Newark is a major hub for all forms of transportation. A major international airport, a busy port, and numerous rail and trucking terminals make for a constant flow of traffic in and out of the city. The city has a permanent population of over 277,000, in addition to the constant visitors. It serves as a tourist as well as an industrial hub, and many people visiting New York end up flying into Newark airport before making their way into the big city.

Newark has several schools including the law and medical schools affiliated with Rutgers. Seton Hall Law School is also located in Newark. The city is also the home of the Prudential Center, where the New Jersey Devils play hockey. The Nets played there for a few seasons as well, but eventually moved into the Barclay's Center instead.

When to Search

Try shopping for an apartment in November in Newark. You won't have quite as much to choose from as in the summertime, however, you also won't have nearly as many people looking for a new apartment. It's a good time to strike a balance between availability and competition.

Staying in the Know

Newark is home to some great rental units, and some that are not so great. Always get a look at an apartment and meet with the landlord in person before you sign any agreements. Otherwise, you could find yourself legally locked in to a less than ideal situation very quickly.
