I've lived here now about 3 years. I'm going to start with the cons, since they're so abundant. Cons: As with most other reviewers on here, I've had "phantom charges" several times. I was only ever able to talk them out of one of them, but I literally had to threaten to move out. In addition, there have been 3 fires in the past 4 years within this complex in different units. They are NOT, I repeat NOT up to code. My dryer vent leads to nothing, literally. You can look in it and see the open crawlspace. My wall outlets are loose to the point where my lamps unplug themselves. Maintenance is the biggest issue this place faces, and it appears as if they only have one maintenance guy, whom you see around MAYBE once a week on a good week. I've had a broken dishwasher since I moved in, have reported it to maintenance 6 times since, and here I am with it still broken. There is a draft so prominent around my door, I can literally see daylight shine through with it shut and locked. Price is expensive for what you get, and the nearby shopping center is riddled with crime. I've witnessed several drug deals go down in that shopping center. I do not recommend this place for anyone with kids. Office hours - 9-5 mon-fri with NO drop box for rent checks, so good luck paying if you work those hours. You can pay online, but the website they use seems like it was designed by a rookie web designer, and it charges a $14 fee to pay online. Also, no central air. Only window units, styled like a hotel room. This applies for ALL the units in the complex. Pros: Good unit layout Attic storage Patio Location is convenient, assuming you own a vehicle Single story, so no upstairs neighbors to worry about They respond to bug reports fast Privacy - everyone here is very quiet and keeps to themselves Quiet - once the sun goes down, you pretty much don't see a living human being until morning Would I live here again? Absolutely, so long as I don't have kids. But that's just me. I make sure to ask excessive numbers of questions to management at every office visit, regardless of the reason of the visit.

I would post zero stars if i could. Lived at Slate Run for five years. I was never late on my payments. When I went to sign my letter of intent to vacate the leasing agent told me thing I was doing that because my apartment already leased out. I asked why it was leased out before i ever signed the document and he said my place was in high demand. When i called to see what my prorated rent was for the last seven days ( lease was up on the seventh), they gave me the rate and added a $95 cleaning fee. I argued about this and they told me it was a standard charge for move outs. I then asked for documentation about it and they sent me a document stating i would be charge the cleaning fee only if i failed to clean the place. So i questioned that and the changed their story AGAIN! They said it was a heads up based on their pre-move out inspection ( which i was still moving out and had not cleaned the place). So, i just recieved my move out statement today and they are still charging me a cleaning fee ( I left the play emaculante) and they are trying to charge me $600 for wallpaper. To anyone who is thinging of living here, my suggestion is to run as fast as you can in the other direction. This new management will take you for all they can.

I left apartment in good condition with only normal wear and tear and on moving out was charged $450 for "damaged carpet" replacement. I accidentally cut off the electric a couple days before their take over time and was charged a $400 fine. Normal electric use in that time frame is maybe $7. They mailed me a bill for the $400 and one week later I was getting 4 calls a day from a collection agency. Some thanks for never being late with the rent and leaving the apartment in good condition. I have lived in many apartments and this is the only one to ever do this. Elon Property Management is all about making themselves wealthy on the backs of regular folks. Notice that you can't review any of their properties on most websites? When you sign the lease you better have an extra $800 in the bank for their phantom fees!

I lived here for nine months. The first manager, Sue was nice. I had a 1-bedroom and didn't have any issues with my unit other than ants, which was promptly taken care of. Halfway through my stay there, two new managers came in. I switched to a studio for the cheaper price, but they never gave me a copy of the rental agreement, no matter how many times I asked. Then they'd always call, repeatedly harnessing me saying I owed more money after I payed my rent. I finally left when they said I owed over $1,000 in late fees after I paid my rent on time. The new managers would play a calling game where one would call saying you owe more money, then once you told her it was paid, the other manager would immediately call back. I don't recommend this place to my worst enemy.

I lived at Slate Run for 6 months out of this year. It was the first apartment I ever lived in so I have no point of reference for how they measure up to places around Louisville. These reviews were very useful to me in selecting a place to live so I figured I'd list some pros and cons Pros: People who live there seem to very private. Never really even knew my neighbors first names. Parking is incredibly easy Rent for a 1 BR was cheap with water included 15 Megabit internet service never went down. Cons Fees: There is no security deposit, Slate Run uses move in fees unlike anyone else in Louisville. Since I'm young and don't have a lot of credit built, I had to pay $500 just to move in. When you move out plan on paying an additional $130 dollars Outside Noise: This was the worst part about living here. While you almost never hear any noise from your neighbors apartment, it leaks in plenty from the outside world. You will have to get used to a train horn going off approximately every 5 hours. Also, maintenance crews start work early in the morning so don't plan on sleeping in. You can clearly hear conversations and screaming children through the wall. Bugs: When I moved in there were stinkbugs. Everywhere, always. My move in date was originally pushed back due to bugs in the apartment, yet when I moved in I was told that it had been treated. When I suggested waiting another week, Sue the property manager ensured it would be fine. I let her know that there were still bugs in the apartment and she assured me OPC would take care of it. Never heard from the guys, cleaned the apartment up and treated it with vinegar water myself. My friend Amanda freaked from the huge spider we unearthed moving my bed out. Toilet constantly ran unless you go to war with handle. Reports of this to office yielded no results. Switched property managers in the middle of lease. She sticks notices on your door to pay rent like your some kind of idiot (never late once). It sucks to have something on your door that just lets any passerby know you're gone if you don't take it off.

This was my first apartment! The prices are great here and truly the neighborhood felt like home! I'm only moving out due to work necessities.I would definitely recommend Slate Run to anyone looking for a pleasant area to live in with a great neighborhood and staff.. Living Quarters: I had a studio apartment. It was simple, but it had everything I needed plus a storage attic (couldn't make it without this feature). It also included built in storage which is always a great way to make use of space. The best part about the apartments is that you don't have neighbors above or below you plus you get your own yard space. It feels like a bunch of small houses nestled side by side. It feels like a neighborhood when you drive by. You don't feel like you're in a complex. Trash and laundry was also very conveniently located as well as the mail areas. Premises: Never had any problems with the premises. They always kept up the landscaping and I've yet to find any trash problems nearby. The property owners also kept up with routine pest control. Office Staff: The friendliest staff I encountered while searching for an apartment. I look very young (I am younger) and many other places treated me very poorly. Sue was not only gracious and respectful during my initial visit but continued to look after me as a resident throughout my stay. She remembers everyone's name and remembers anything that you've talked about. The level of professionalism is top notch here.
