Trinity College

Trinity College’s campus is the tenth safest community in Hartford according to a list of neighborhoods with the lowest crime rates. Overall, the area’s crime rate is considerably safer than the city’s average. Students moving off campus wouldn’t be remiss if they looked for an apartment near the school, as it’s a very nice community to live in. However, the four safest communities in Hartford lie just south of Trinity in the city’s South End and South West neighborhoods, from Hartford and Newington Ave to Interstate 91. Trinity’s campus is small and manageable, and only 36% of students who live on campus have a car with them. But as soon as you make the move to an apartment away from the school, you’ll find that a car is a necessity (unless you’re within walking range). The school has an intermittent shuttle service, but there isn’t enough of a public transit system to depend on it for an everyday commute. You should either own a vehicle or live with a roommate who does and can give you a ride. If you’re commuting from outside of Hartford, you will probably end up using Interstate 84 or 91 every day.

Methodology

Each month, using over 1 million Rentable listings across the United States, we calculate the median 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom rent prices by city, state, and nation, and track the month-over-month percent change. To avoid small sample sizes, we restrict the analysis for our reports to cities meeting minimum population and property count thresholds.
