Sinclair Community College

Sinclair is nestled on the banks of the Miami River in Dayton’s western downtown area. The crime rate in this community is around average, but once you cross the river you’ll find yourself in the Dayton neighborhoods with the highest crime rates. Most of Dayton’s safest neighborhoods are located far from downtown on the outside of the city (most in suburban areas). You can look into these communities if you’re moving off-campus, but most of them are a longer drive from campus. If you want something close, check out rentals in Oakwood. It’s just three miles south of Sinclair and has the fourth lowest crime rate in Dayton. Weekend plans are always varied amongst Sinclair students. Some students drive an hour east to Columbus, others drive an hour south to Cincinnati, and others an hour and 45 minutes west to Indianapolis. With so many large cities nearby, the options are nearly endless if you or your friends have a car. But if not, you can just take a look around you at the nightlife opportunities in Dayton. There are clubs, art venues, bars, great restaurants, and college events here too, just like in any of the other nearby cities.

Methodology

Each month, using over 1 million Rentable listings across the United States, we calculate the median 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom rent prices by city, state, and nation, and track the month-over-month percent change. To avoid small sample sizes, we restrict the analysis for our reports to cities meeting minimum population and property count thresholds.
