Get there with sufficient time to board your train. You can't just show up and expect to get a ticket on the next train; it might be sold out, and ticket sales stop a short while before the train leaves.

I asked which train will get me to DC faster. They lady sold me a ticket to an already delayed train. Instead of the train that was already boarding at the station.
It was ok. Nothing to write home about. Lol. I like UNION STATION the most, lots of stores and restaurants, movie theater. Real cool...

a time capsule w/ rail station on the side. very, very ornate building; reminds me of a church more than a train station. it has a good location and a very simple straight forward layout. however, the selection for the food was terrible. the only thing i saw worth it was Dunkin' Donuts. but overall it's an alright train station.
Still a great place to feel like you have gone back in time, when people used public transportation more.

They also will leave disable patrons behind even when the have 2 minutes left. Their service is slow and their station is dirty. There was an bacterial outbreak from the seating and no one was notified. Save your money or skip this mode of transportation all together. They often have delays anyways.

There is a very tiny Dunkin Donuts and a separate Cafe for food and coffee. I love the layout.
The train is the classiest way to go to New York City for the weekend or DC for the day.
Functional train station and very accessible by bus and light rail. Garage parking is expensive but street lot behind building is more reasonable. Mostly clean except for bathrooms.

Penn Station will only give you just enough of what you need. Need a snack? Dunkin Donuts & a couple other eateries are in....
Penn Station will only give you just enough of what you need. Need a snack? Dunkin Donuts & a couple other eateries are in. Need a postcard or souvenir? A general store has it. Need a bathroom? There's a bathroom.
Outside of that, Penn Station has little to be desired when compared to D.C.'s Union Station.

I went into the ladies restroom and it was very dirty there was an odor toilet paper all over the floor and hair in the sink the bathroom is like this every time I go to Penn Station ,the clean up person is sitting behind the info desk talking with the employees the bathrooms should be checked every 15 to 30 minutes
daily. I'm a train operator and I have to use this bathroom and it's always dirty.
I want to rate it zero but you don't have a zero.
A year later no changes bathroom always dirty lots of people in and out of bathroom so it should be cleaned every half hour or every hour. Just my opinion .
I have to change trains for a trip I frequently take between Boston & southwest Virginia. I can switch at NYP, BAL or WAS....
I have to change trains for a trip I frequently take between Boston & southwest Virginia. I can switch at NYP, BAL or WAS. New York is a horrible pit. Washington is nice but boarding for this train is always chaotic and it's also where Amtrak changes engines. So boarding in Baltimore is much less stressful. Even if there's one restaurant, one little shop & a Dunkin. It's nowhere near the size of WAS which basically a train station with a mall attached. But BAL isn't a madhouse either.

They helped reserve tickets for my entire trip from Baltimore to California... at the ticket counter the day of. Can you be anymore helpful? I think not.

No easy connection that makes sense to the light rail, despite the fact that there is a penn station spur. Also, not near the metro at all. Buses here are far from effective too. Most likely you'll need to take a cab or Uber to your destination from here.

It was a delight to wait on our commuter train to DC. We took Uber when we left and waited less than 2 minutes for a driver. Excellent excellent excellent!

Constructed in 1911, you would think this dive of a train station would be a little bit more classy being the hub of it all. Instead the restrooms are a dump, security is shady and two food service vendors. I wish you would brighten your Station up at least do something classy with it. Roof decaying and its still resembles 1911.

Great old train station took Marc train to DC was $8 pretty cheap.
Nice little train station that does its job well, careful on the streets nearby, not all are safe.
