The safest areas in Atlanta are the neighborhoods in the northern end of the city. ATI is near South Atlanta, and is in the middle of some communities that may be cheap but have higher crime rates than average. The nearby areas with the lowest crime are Grant Park and Capitol View/Sylvan Hills, but none of the local neighborhoods are any I’d call the safest in the city. If you want to live in the safest neighborhoods in the city in Northern Atlanta, you can commute back and forth between there and campus easily by using Interstate 85. ATI is removed from downtown Atlanta and its surging apartment costs in neighborhoods like Five Points, Candler Park, Inman Park, and the Old Fourth Ward. Some students want to live closer to downtown to soak up the city life, but most try to stay closer to campus in communities like Capitol View, Joyland, Pittsburgh, and South Atlanta. These neighborhoods don’t offer as many activities or as much culture, but they’re cheaper and closer to campus. Plus, you still have good enough access to Atlanta to go there on the weekends.

Methodology

Each month, using over 1 million Rentable listings across the United States, we calculate the median 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom rent prices by city, state, and nation, and track the month-over-month percent change. To avoid small sample sizes, we restrict the analysis for our reports to cities meeting minimum population and property count thresholds.
