Worcester State College

The apartment prices in and around downtown Worcester can be very expensive, but fortunately, Worcester State is two miles west. The apartment costs are a lot more reasonable in that area, but there aren’t as many to choose from. If you look at this website’s map feature, you’ll see that there’s a large concentration of rentals in downtown, but halfway in between there and Worcester State they thin out dramatically. When you look for an apartment, keep in mind that you should be able to find something for under $1000 (unless it’s four or more beds), and that even if it’s not within walking distance of campus, it should at least be a short drive away. Worcester has a thriving club scene that features more under-21 clubs than the nearby city of Boston. But for upperclassmen students (or underclassmen with fake IDs, it seems like all of them do nowadays), there are also a lot of bars in downtown. Music venues like the Palladium and the DCU Center have been attracting more high-profile names than ever before. This is a great college city, with nearly a dozen other schools in the area, and even if you can’t find anything to do in the city there are plenty of college parties that are always going on.

Methodology

Each month, using over 1 million Rentable listings across the United States, we calculate the median 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom rent prices by city, state, and nation, and track the month-over-month percent change. To avoid small sample sizes, we restrict the analysis for our reports to cities meeting minimum population and property count thresholds.
