Every July, the Walla Walla Sweet Onion Festival is held to commemorate a French soldier’s discovery of the onion, and enjoy Washington’s official state vegetable. Farmer’s Markets are a regular occurrence throughout the spring and summer in Walla Walla. The Stage Race, a bicycle race, takes place every April. The Walla Walla Sweets, a baseball team, the Walla Walla Sweets Rollergirls, a roller derby team, have games that the public can view. The Power House Theatre holds an annual Shakespeare Festival, and the Walla Walla Chamber Music Festival is a two-week musical celebration in the streets. There are many fun events here over the course of the year. Summer temps here average in the 80s and 90s, and winter temps in the 40s and 50s. The most rain falls in November, while the least falls in July. Humidity is high throughout the winter months, and then disappears in the summer. There is remarkably little sunshine from November to February, and days are dreary and foggy, but if you can survive it, June through September are beautiful.
