Apartments in University Center
Apartments near University Center, MI

University Centre is a bit of an anomaly as a community, because it does not really exist as a separate town, city or village as people tend to think of them. Instead, it is an unincorporated area in Michigan which has sprung up in order to serve the needs of institutions in the area. Specifically, Delta College and Saginaw Valley State University were in need of a post office, and so a post office and zip code was created for the express purpose of serving those institutes of higher learning.
What is interesting about this area is that the two schools site in two different counties, Kochville and Bay for SVSU and Delta respectively, and yet they use a unified zip code most of the time. The area has given birth to other services, and churches, hotels, and restaurants have sprung up throughout the area in order to serve the people who live and work there, although most live in one of the nearby incorporated town sites.
Finding a place in University Center itself is going to be difficult at any time of year, because there are very few properties for rent on this site. Instead, you're likely going to have to look into one of the surrounding towns or cities for a rental property. In almost all of those cases, April and May are the best times to shop.
When you're applying for an apartment in this type of location, you need to realize how much rests on the impression the landlord draws when they meet you for the first time. Dress well and show up on time. Then, make sure you are professional and polite in all of your replies to any questions you may be asked. Also, never lie when talking to a landlord. If you do, the truth will always come out at a later date.
There are a couple of public transportation routes that run through the area, and both schools are accessible by public transit. However, because of how spread out everything is throughout the University Center area, most people find it far more convenient to have a car if they are living in the region.
Watching a game at either of the local schools is a lot of fun. Saginaw Valley has 16 NCAA Division II teams and Delta College competes in the NJCAA. The theatre department at Saginaw Valley also has presentations that are open to the public. Just to the east, you will also find Saginaw River and Saginaw River Lake, excellent places to enjoy outdoor Michigan activities.
