Springfield is home to many exciting festivals and events all year-round. For the holiday season, over 600,000 lights and displays illuminate Forest Park in a month-long festivity called Bright Nights. Each spring, Springfield tries to break the world record with the Largest Pancake Breakfast, and in 2011, over 30,000 people attended. The Springfield Gay Pride Week is a big event in early June, and throughout the summer, events like the Hoop City Jazz Festival, Armory Big Band Concerts, Italian Feast Days, Street Arts Festival, Caribbean Festival, and Festival of Big Balloons at Thanksgiving, makes Springfield a lively city to live in. Springfield’s nightlife scene is very famous, specifically for its LGBT friendliness. The Club Quarter has over 60 bars and clubs, most of which are around Worthington, Stearns, and Chestnut Street. Theodore’s Booze, Blues & BBQ has an awesome bluesy atmosphere, great live music, and everyone has a good time. There are a few strip clubs right in Springfield, mainly Mardi Gras, though there is a nude male strip club called Xstatic, too. The Hippodrome, Skyplex, and Oz are the three most popular dance clubs locally. For karaoke, hit up Rory Fitzgerald’s, there are a few places to play pool, like Smith’s, right above Theodore’s, and some fun bars include Paddy’s Irish Pub, Sophia’s, Mingle’s, Donovan’s, and more.
