San Rafael is the home of DUC, and Route 101 runs through it. You can hop on 101 and take it east, where it switches to Interstate 580 and can take you over by Berkeley and Oakland. If you take it south, it’s a straight shot to San Francisco and only about a 20 minute drive. I’m not saying you should live in any of these areas, but if you choose to do so, or already live there, the commute would be easy. Route 101 also extends north to communities like Novato and Petaluma. For commuting within San Rafael, the campus is a five minute drive from the center of the city. Regardless of your hobbies or how you get your kicks, you’ll find plenty of ways to enjoy your time around Dominican University of California. For example, if you crave the big city then Oakland and San Francisco are within reach by driving or taking public transportation. If you love the outdoors, you can walk to the scenic China Camp State Park from campus, or to the San Rafael Bay.
