I never post online reviews but I genuinely felt the need to in this case, so I can let people know my experience with this place. I had an unfortunate family emergency and I had to go out of town. I tried contacting them a bunch of times before I left to get an update as I was waiting for my application to complete so I could take care of it before I left and THANK GOD I didnt else I would have been stuck with this inhuman place that cares about nothing more than money. Due to the unfortunate situation, I had to extend my stay with my family and I was unable to come back and sign the lease as I am not coming back for a while. I have limited access to my phone so I had to have my partner call them and let them know we were not going to be signing the lease. And thats when we were finally told the deposit I non-refundable.
If you are planning to apply to this place along with others, DO NOT apply here first because you are required to put down security deposit and they never verbally tell you that the deposit is non-refundable. They have the statement only posted on the form when you are making payments for security deposit and application form. Yes, it was my mistake I didnt read the document before I signed it, but lets be real, not all of us sit down and go through each word before signing it. I do take ownership of the fact that I didnt read it which is why I am writing this review to let you know about it. If I was told even once verbally that the deposit was non-refundable, I would have never applied in the first place. The rule makes no sense. I have applied to other places before but never once heard this rule where they keep the security deposit even if you do not sign the lease. Its ridiculous. They might as well just add the cost to the application cost and call it application fee at that point because to me there is no difference. Security Deposit is to be used for damage incurred when someone stays in a place. How does it make sense to just take the money whether or not one stays? Also another ridiculous thing is, if you fail the application process, they still take your deposit!!!
Anyway, if you are thinking about putting an application, please do only when you are 100% sure that it is the place you want to stay at. Also I hope you are a psychic that can forsee the future because if you dont and something comes up, they dont really care as long as you put down your money. I hope you will take my words here because I am someone going through some difficult times in my life right now and even then I chose to leave them this review because I dont want someone else to go through what I did! Thank you for nothing Stone Hills Apartment. I hope you guys start making a habit of telling people verbally that the security deposits are non-refundable!
