Welcome to the most fun little rental in Oak Ridge.
This 2-bedroom, 1-bath cottage has been gone through top to bottom, and the renovation has a personality. The living room ceiling is hand-painted to look like moving water in deep blues and teals, with a full-size surfboard mounted as the centerpiece and two matte black pendant lights hanging beneath it. It is a conversation starter every single time someone walks in, and it makes the space feel ten degrees warmer than the weather outside.

WHAT MAKES OAK RIDGE, TN A GOOD PLACE TO LAND
Oak Ridge is a town of about 33,000 people in Anderson and Roane counties, roughly 25 miles west of Knoxville, and it carries a genuinely unusual history — it was built from scratch in the 1940s as the "Secret City" of the Manhattan Project, and nobody who lived here was allowed to say what they did for a living. Today it is home to Oak Ridge National Laboratory, the Y-12 National Security Complex, and a large federal contractor workforce, which means steady, well-paid neighbors and a rental market that never really softens.
That heritage also left the town with a large stock of small, efficient mid-century homes — the same footprint as this one. What sets this property apart is that the renovation went past "flip beige" and gave it a real point of view.
