Monterey Peninsula College

If you go to MPC, consider yourself lucky to be studying in a place that others consider perfect for vacation or retirement. The ocean shore and one of the main wharfs are a 15 minute walk from school, and you’ll be tempted to spend a lot of your time on the beach tanning or fishing on the docks. If you’re caught up with studying, there’s no harm in that. I’d encourage you to explore and enjoy what Monterey is known for; what other people vacation here for. The temperatures in Monterey stay more or less the same the entire year. The winters are slightly colder with average temp highs in the high-50s F, and summers are warmer with averages in the high-60s F. The reason for this is the city’s location on the Pacific Ocean, which gives it a cooler climate. The factor that distinguishes the summer from the winter the most is the rainfall. In the winter, there are several inches of rain per month, whereas in the summer it’s always less than an inch.

Methodology

Each month, using over 1 million Rentable listings across the United States, we calculate the median 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom rent prices by city, state, and nation, and track the month-over-month percent change. To avoid small sample sizes, we restrict the analysis for our reports to cities meeting minimum population and property count thresholds.
