Yuba College

An important thing to know about the area around Yuba is that there aren’t a lot of apartments available. It’s a very rural area, and there aren’t really enough schools or large cities around to justify having a lot of rentals. Because of this, your apartment search could take you to any town or city in the area, whether it be Marysville, Yuba City, Penn Valley, Lincoln, Oroville, or another place. Students aren’t afforded the luxury of being selective. Basically, if they see an apartment they could live in that’s within ten or fifteen miles of the school, they should jump on it. If there’s only a month before classes start and they still don’t have a place to live, they’ll be forced to choose a terrible apartment or one that’s further away. So just remember that you can’t be too picky, and you should get a lease squared away as soon as you can. It’s easy to take digs at Yuba for having a poor location that lacks a lot of activities for students. Many of these complaints would be valid if they just considered the immediate area surrounding the school. But if you’re willing to drive a bit--and most students are able to do this because Yuba is largely a commuter school--then you will find plenty to do. For starters, Sacramento is only a 45 min drive, and the city offers every activity students would want to do. Drive an hour to the east and you’ll enter the stretch of state forests and national parks that makes this part of eastern California one of the most beautiful in the state. To just name one place, Lake Tahoe is only 90 minutes away.
