Framingham State College

About 25% of students have cars on-campus, and FSU has really limited parking so not everyone who has a car is able to get a parking spot. In recent years, FSU has made an effort to create more transportation options for their students, including implementing Zipcars, and widening the Ram Tram shuttle routes. Students overall are satisfied with the amount of public transportation offered to them, including the MBTA train, which has the Worcester line that stops in Framingham and adjacent towns. Framingham is not an affordable place to live. Some studios are less than $1000, but you’d be hard-pressed to find a one-bedroom for under $1100/month. About 50% of students live on-campus, which means the rest live locally with family, or with roommates. Splitting the rent between two for a two-bedroom, your rent will be around $550-$750/month. Marlborough and Ashland are nearby and have slightly lower average rents. FSU has an off-campus list available to students seeking housing, and also encourages students to feel free asking Student Resources for help.

Methodology

Each month, using over 1 million Rentable listings across the United States, we calculate the median 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom rent prices by city, state, and nation, and track the month-over-month percent change. To avoid small sample sizes, we restrict the analysis for our reports to cities meeting minimum population and property count thresholds.
