Lebanon isn’t exactly a renter’s paradise, with only one or two listings up on this site right now. In my personal experience I’ve never had more than a dozen vacancies at one time here; there just aren’t a lot of rental opportunities around there. If you want more options look closer to Belleville. To be more precise, suburban areas of Belleville that are close to Lebanon. For example, Fairview Heights, Swansea, and O’Fallon all have more apartments available right now, with decent monthly costs and a reasonable commute to McKendree University. Today students are looking towards their post-grad life before they even enter college. It’s part of the planning process; they consider all the programs the school has to offer and consider which one will one will put them in a position to succeed when they leave school. And when they do leave, where will they go? At McKendree, many graduates head to St. Louis, which is just a twenty minute drive from the school. A lot of them form connections in the city through internships or jobs during their undergrad years, and this leads them there after they graduate. Other students head to eastern Illinois to live in or around Chicago, some head home, and others travel across the country, or even the world, to begin their professional lives.

Methodology

Each month, using over 1 million Rentable listings across the United States, we calculate the median 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom rent prices by city, state, and nation, and track the month-over-month percent change. To avoid small sample sizes, we restrict the analysis for our reports to cities meeting minimum population and property count thresholds.
