Cheap for a reason. Windows & appliances are not of this century. Pipes rattle (sometimes there are uncomfortable sounds - wouldnt you investigate & fix the noise in your own home?), clothes washed in on site laundry facilities never smell clean (you can call the number on the machines to request services - dont residents pay for management to take care of issues like this?), horrible box elder bug infestations in the spring (they were happy to spray but wouldnt address the ripped screens & newspapers used by previous tenants in windows to attempt to keep bugs out), & you can hear every footstep on the hall stairs. No notice when laundry rooms are being cleaned or repaired - you just find out when you see the sign on the door after lugging laundry to the facilities. The one positive about this place is that the maintenance guys are very friendly & quick to come make repairs. Trappers Cove is described as the most beautiful apartment complex in Lansing on their website but that is far from the truth.

I don't understand all the poor reviews. This place has been the best apartment I've had while living in Lansing. They offer Bloom internet - excellent fixed deal - I was SO GLAD TO ESCAPE COMCAST! They do NOT show your apartment while you are still living there (ahem, dtn ... :P ) And they do NOT increase your rent every year (dtn!!!). I have been very satisfied with the respect, privacy, and service granted by this apartment complex.

I am relieved I don't live here anymore. This is for a few reasons: 1. The internet is provided by their own sub-company called Bloom Broadband. It is more expensive than other comparable plans and not nearly as good or consistent. It is really spotty and slows down randomly; I know it isn't a hardware issue as I've checked and troubleshooted everything multiple times. They told me that you can't get a different ISP here so you're stuck with Bloom if you live here. 2. The street and drives are full of potholes and probably should have been repaved a while ago. It looks pretty bad. 3. The maintenance is good, but if you want them to respect your request for you to be present when maintenance is done, you'll be disappointed. I had maintenance come to my apartment maybe 3-4 times. Each time that I requested to be present during maintenance, the request was never respected as they just came in and did the maintenance anyway. They fixed what needed to be fixed, but my issue with it is this: why even ask if I want to be there during maintenance if you aren't going to honor my request? 4. I never had a problem with management until the end of my lease. I went to the leasing office more than a month before the end of my lease to apply for a transfer to a smaller apartment within the same complex. I told the leasing agent (in person) that I wanted to move out of my current apartment at the end of my lease, preferably sooner if possible. They did some paperwork for my transfer request and then told me to apply online after I was approved. I was not able to apply online because their site is not user friendly (to put it nicely), and kept telling me that I had already applied (which I did apply before I first moved in to Trappers Cove a year before, but not for this time around). I called the leasing office the next day to report the issue and was not given a solution. I told them then that I would not be renewing at the end of my lease (over the phone, twice total). Fast forward to today: I just went in earlier to give them my keys and they stated that I needed to either pay for another month's rent or pay the early termination fee, which is over $800 because I didn't inform them in writing that I was leaving ahead of time. The leasing agent I talked to said that I still have to pay the fee even though they had my transfer request on file, which obviously indicates that I was not planning on staying there after my lease ended. I asked if I could pay with a card and they don't even have a card reader at the leasing office for me to pay the fee. I can't help but feel ripped off here. Management, feel free to reach out and work out a solution with me on this. I'll be glad to post a happy ending update on this review. Other than that, it's an okay place to live to be honest. It's generally pretty quiet, and it's not too far from stuff. They're decent apartments in a somewhat cheap price range. It has it's setbacks but so does everywhere else. If you want to have a good experience though, I'd advise you to look somewhere else.

Trappers cove is a nice place to live, my boyfriend and his brother having been living here for 3 years in April and I have been here for just over a year, Office staff are very friendly and very helpful though everything. We have had some small issues with some of the things in our apartment but we called and they were here to fix it right alway, expect our window. I think one thing that could be fixed is the roadways. But overall a great place, easy access to everything.

I've lived here for over a year. Trappers Cove is one of the cheaper places for a single student trying to commute to MSU's campus. I think their apartments are priced fairly. The roads are pretty bad, and the walls seem to be thin as I can hear people stomping up and down the stairs. The times I've had to interact with maintenance they have been kind, however, I took a couple days to respond. Overall, Trappers Cove is just "okay."

Leasing office staff AND management are extremely rude and disorganized. I've had so many issues with this place i don't even know where to begin. Anytime i had a maintenance request it never got handled until i had called 3-5 times about it. They sent me a letter saying i had to be completely moved out by a certain date...so i did and when i turned my keys in the manager (and woman who had signed the letter i received) said she "doesn't really know what these letters are all about" and "nobody usually reads these so my lease is still active." After arguing with them and getting nowhere i left. Only to find out a week later (after going there and asking about it) that I was correct to have moved out and they were misinformed. It took them almost 3 months to get me my security deposit check, which is against Michigan law. Trappers Cove Apartments is the WORST community I have ever lived in with 6 years at MSU having lived in several different complexes. When they make a mistake they do not say sorry or even fix it half the time and have an attitude like they don't need to do things right and people will still live there. Please prove them wrong, don't live in this community there are several other places that will treat you better!!

Nice quiet neighborhood with beautiful pond. However, Providing good & consistent Internet service will increase existing customer satisfaction, which will in-turn help more customer attraction (Most people read blog). Disconnecting from internet several times during work is routine. Personally I should get extreme good Internet services from other vendors (which they don't allow) with the same or less money. Property wise it's very good, No complaints, reported issues are addressed in timely manner, But INTERNET is the only frustration brings me to rate as 3 star.

Very affordable! I moved to Hunt Club after Trappers Cove and it has been HELL, made me realize how awesome Trappers was.

It's a pretty great apartment complex. The staff are all nice, the maintenance people are really fast to respond, and the grounds are pretty in the summer. The apartments themselves are pretty old but are newly carpeted and painted. The floor warps here and there but for $705 a month, it is pretty great. Good luck trying to find such large apartments for as low a cost as these.

I have lived in different apartment complexes all over the country, and have never been treated worse by management. I would rate the customer service at zero. Its not that is bad, its that there is none. The internet is absolutely a joke, (you have to buy it through them if you want high speed internet, who uses dial up? Really?). You have a data cap, which lasts me about two weeks. I'm happily paying five hundred dollars to break my lease and would strongly urge anyone that is thinking of signing a lease here to look elsewhere. This is by far the worst experience I've had in 18 years as a renter.

The small one bedroom Cape Cod is a pretty decent apartment. It's more than big enough for one person, granted the kitchen is very cramped and counter space is almost non existent. It does have a very large pantry and ample cabinets. My apartment had new carpet when I moved in which is nice. My building is also pet/cat free which is great since I am allergic. However, a few minor nuisances: 1. I was told that each building has a washer/dryer in it. This is a misleading statement as the W/D are located in the central building of a row of complexes. So 1/4 technically has a washer and dryer in it. I just go to QD over on Lake Lansing road instead(yes there are closer but this one is my favorite). 2. It wasn't until I was about to sign my lease that I was told I would need a modem for the internet. I didn't really think about this as I have always rented one from Comcast. The leasing office doesn't rent them and charges 90$ for a modem, not sure which brand. Newegg and 40$ dollars later the internet is just fine(12mbs connection which has been very good. no drops or signal loss). 3. The leasing office will also not accept packages from Prestige, so watch out when shopping through Amazon. They do accept UPS/FedEx/etc.. These aren't major concerns and are more of one off oddities pertained to this community. There are a lot of very young kids in my building as well. Luckily I haven't heard any crying or screaming during the night time hours. My neighbors are pretty good about their children and I am understanding to the noise during the day. I just wouldn't have picked a building with a bunch of kids as a first choice had I known. This place is pretty quiet(almost silent some days) for the most part, I'm tucked over by college town so I don't hear any of the road traffic. No real major complaints and overall its a solid place to live for the price.
