Three of Lakewood’s safest intersections are West 20th Avenue & Simms St, West 26th Avenue & Simms St, and West 32nd Avenue and Kipling St. All three are just a couple miles north of CCU’s campus, making them a closeby and viable option for students looking for a safe place to live. Most of the other nearby neighborhoods have higher crime rates, and you have to look out near Interstate 70 and Red Rocks Park to find communities with as low of crime as the streets I mentioned. From Lakewood, CCU students have access to small cities like Boulder, larger ones like Denver, and medium sized cities like Lakewood itself. Each city offers unique amenities that the others don’t have. For example, you can spend your weekends partying at the University of Colorado Boulder, hopping around the nightlife in Denver, or enjoying CCU’s plentiful events in Lakewood. If you want to be more adventurous, there are dozens of parks to the west of campus. Just within ten miles are Windy Saddle Park, Apex Park, the William F. Hayden Green Mountain Park, and Red Rocks Park, which is home to one of the most famous music venues in the country. If you want to travel even further west, you can enjoy all of Colorado’s best parks and mountains.
