What a wonderful place to live. I have seen some negative reviews, and I understand their frustrations, but I think it is important to remember that nowhere is perfect, because people aren't perfect. I get the feeling that the staff here truly care about the happiness of the residents, and my interactions with everyone from maintenance to the front office staff has been wonderful. I could go on for ages about details, but no one has time for that, so here is the good old pros and cons list.
Pros:
The staff are kind, friendly, and responsive to requests/concerns
The greenest complex in the area (the trees are stunning)
Beautiful pool and deck area
TWO DOG PARKS! (and one of them is huge!)
Professional dog grooming station
High ceilings
Large windows
Wide window ledges for plants :)
Lots of great storage so you need less furniture
No size or breed restrictions on dogs
The complex has drinks and games by the pool sometimes
Food trucks on Tuesdays
A Bark Box for pet of the month winner!
We formed an awesome dog park group that meets for happy hour most evenings and the beautiful big park, so if you move here, come join us!
Cons:
There are very few cons so far, and they are unfortunately due to other people, not Stella staff.
Someone keeps dumping food at the dog park (management has sent out emails, but that has not helped). Please look around before letting your pup run free at the park, as mine has sadly eaten some dangerous foods due to this situation.
Gates at the park have to be closed manually (not self-locking latch like at dog parks), and many residents seem to think that the dog park is a good shortcut and do not close gates as they walk through (often while dogs are actually in the park). Keep a close eye on all three gates while playing so your dog doesn't run off.
The nice dog wash station is constantly clogged, and now the hose is duct taped on. It would be great if they could add that to a general maintenance list and make sure it is cleaned and checked weekly, as it is a great amenity, and keeps people's showers and tubs from getting clogged with pet hair.
The parks do get a bit dusty (or muddy in rainy season), but management has already mentioned that they will be starting a project to fix up the big park soon, and we are all very excited!
Be advised that if you are even a moderately light sleeper, you should opt for an apartment away from the large garage next door. People seem to basically have car parties up there on the weekends, (honking horns, yelling, blasting music, etc.) and at least once a night someone's car alarm goes off, and this has proven to be very difficult to sleep through even with earplugs.
All that being said, I have been to many apartments in the area, and spoken to other residents, and they all seem to love our place! These apartments are quite spacious in comparison to others. Ultimately what makes any complex worth living in is good management, and I have heard many complaints about a few other complexes. I feel like they listen and work with us here, and they genuinely seem to care, which makes all the difference. Over all, we love it here, and plan on staying for many years to come.
PS. The area is gorgeous and so close to Herman Park! I will add pictures soon!
