UH is next to the Blue Hills neighborhood in Hartford, which has plenty of chains that are perfect for college students. For example, Boston Market, IHOP, and Blimpie have affordable food in a great location for UH students. But arguably the most popular restaurant in the area is on the west side of UH’s campus: Einstein Bros Bagels. Every morning it fills up with students who want coffee, bagels, or breakfast sandwiches. If students want a wider selection of restaurants, downtown Hartford is close by and has a great dining scene. There are seven colleges in the Hartford area, so finding a party on the weekend with other students is never difficult. The city itself also has great nightlife activities, like pubs that are always crowded and full of life, clubs that stay open into the wee hours of the night, sports bars where residents rooting for their respective New England or New York teams congregate, award-winning restaurants. There are also music venues like the Comcast Theatre and sports venues like the XL Center, where UConn’s basketball teams hold their games. Hartford is one of the largest cities in the state, and is a great place for college students to play on the weekend.

Methodology

Each month, using over 1 million Rentable listings across the United States, we calculate the median 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom rent prices by city, state, and nation, and track the month-over-month percent change. To avoid small sample sizes, we restrict the analysis for our reports to cities meeting minimum population and property count thresholds.
