Austin

Located on the West Side of Chicago, Austin is both urban and suburban. As one of the largest community areas in the city, it is also very densely populated. Perhaps due to its sheer size, Austin is very walkable. Residents also have access to good public transportation and can even enjoy biking around their neighborhood or commute downtown. Remarkable points of interest include numerous historic buildings, such as six landmarks registered on the National Register of Historic Places, and seven additional landmarks of Chicago. Bordered by the Belt Railway and the Milwaukee District/West Line, Austin connects the city and the nearby suburbs of Cicero and Oak Park. Those looking to explore their surroundings have several museums and cultural centers to enjoy nearby, along with many local joints serving up delicious meals.
