Find a Great Apartment Near Elmhurst College
The Up-W train that’s part of the MetraRail system has a stop in Elmhurst right down the street from the college. The route begins in Chicago and ends in Elburn, so Elmhurst is somewhat near the middle. The train is one of the best public transportation options for students, but PACE has buses running in and out of the city, too. The campus is small enough that you can walk it easily without a shuttle or car, so if you live within walking distance your feet will be the only transportation you’ll need to commute. But the Up-W and PACE 313 are great options if you rely on public transit.
There are a handful of apartment buildings in Elmhurst that are well-known amongst students, but compared to other towns and cities in the area, Elmhurst doesn’t have a very large rental market. It’s not uncommon for students to look around the larger region at apartments elsewhere. They quickly find out, however, that the closer they are to Chicago the more valuable the real estate gets. You’re almost always going to be paying a little bit more if you live near the city compared to living further out past Elmhurst. That shouldn’t be too much of a concern, though, because most students try to stay as close to school as they can.
