Find a Eau Claire Apartment

Eau Claire is a small city with approximately 65,000 people calling the Wisconsin town home. Its name is a slightly altered version of the French term for "Clear Waters." Eau Claire is dependent on the health care and education industries currently. In the past, lumber and manufacturing were both important sectors, but a changing economy and closing facilities have made those industries much less front and center in the cities economy.

There are four post secondary institutions to be found in Eau Claire. Two are public and two are private. The largest of the four is the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. More than 11,000 students attend annually. The school also has an athletics program that is an NCAA Division III member, and competes under the name of the "bluegolds".

When to Search

Apartment hunting in Wisconsin in the winter can actually yield some unexpected deals. You will generally have less people competing for the same apartments, which can make some places accessible to you where you would usually find yourself in a competition. Because of the reduced selection however, it is a good idea to give yourself a full two months for your winter apartment hunt.

Staying in the Know

References are very important to Eau Claire landlords. Despite its population, the locals have a very strong sense of community, which means trust is very important. If you can have someone of credibility vouch for you, such as a former employer, professor or landlord, your chances of getting a good place shoot up astronomically.

Where to play
