Conway is a modest city with a population of over 16,000. The city is old, with a number of buildings and landmarks that are counted on the Register of Historic Places. Conway residents take a great deal of pride in their town and their history, and numerous initiatives have been undertaken over the past decades to preserve and restore locally significant structures.

Conway is home to a number of different schools. Coastal Carolina University is the largest, with nearly as many students registered as the town has people. A flight school, an MBA graduate program, and the Horry-Georgetown Technical College are also all found here.

Conway is a small town, so if you wanted to walk or bike everywhere you would have no problem doing so. A car can be helpful, but you'll find that most of the time you end up driving needlessly short distances if you live, work and study in town. The Coast RTA transit system is also available.

Where to play

If you like history, tour historic buildings like City Hall and the other structures that are designated historic places. Downtown, you will find a vibrant local shopping and dining district. Head to the Old Oak Tavern to enjoy an authentic local pub. Of course, for students, the fact that Conway is part of the Myrtle Beach metropolitan area means that they are within a stone's throw of one of the most infamous locations for Spring Break each and every year.
