In 2015 I took a job working for the state of South Carolina. As I was transitioning from Ravenel to Columbia, I stayed with a family member for two months until I found a place of my own. While staying with my family member I reached out to my friend who was from the area and she gave me and my mother some directions on where to look for decedent places. After searching for a while I saw lady helping her daughter move into Aspyre Apartments. When I first walked into the leasing office it didnt take long to receive help from the friendly staff. They explained how each section of the apartment complex had different prices. After listening and asking questions, I filled out an application. As a graduate who had only been out of college for just over a year, Aspyre provided just about every amenity that I needed in an apartment complex. For example, the location of the complex allows me to walk to work, nearby restaurants, and other activities like the University of South Carolina sporting events. Other selling points that got my attention were the free internet along with a washer and dryer. While filling out my application they did tell me I may or may not have a suitemate. Similar to college living; I would have to share the living room and kitchen area with them. Overall if you are just starting your career or getting ready for graduate school and looking for an apartment that has an individual lease with affordable pricing of $600-$800 then Asprye apartments is the spot for you.

Aspyre is a decent place for undergrads, and there are many utilities included with the lease, but I don't plan to renew my lease. I had several maintenance issues upon moving in that should have been resolved before I was even allowed in the apartment. Instead, the issues took months to resolve, and some are not even fully resolved 8 months after moving in. The gated parking garage feels safe but inconvenient and crowded. I'm on the first floor, but if I come home after 6pm, I usually have to park on the 4th or 5th floor about 80% of the time. Not sure how the new management will be, but in the past I've both been ignored and accused of being a liar for inquiring when a leak would be fixed that they claimed didn't exist. I had to send video footage to prove I was not lying. The leak was finally fixed after 2 months. Overall, again, it isn't a terrible place to live, but it's only a step above student dorms. If you're looking for good apartments, I wouldn't recommend.

The location and facility are overall pretty great. It's within walking distance to campus if you don't mind walking for about 25 minutes. Also, the campus shuttle system is a big convenience. And the few times I had to interact with faculty I was treated kindly. For the price and location, there aren't many ways you can go wrong with Aspyre.

The only good things about this place are location and maintenance staff. Everything else here is horrible! The office staff is rude, they're only nice to you on the day of the signing contract. Even the pest control guy couldn't do his job right. They always want to blame others for all their problems. I was charged for damage in the apartment that my room mate and I never caused because they lost the inventory and condition form. They have 20 guest spots for 500 apartments to share. The fire alarm goes off every other week.

The staff is unresponsive, rude, and will say anything including untrue things to convince you to sign a lease. The place always smells like weed. It is incredibly noisy with paper-thin walls. My apartment was turned over to me exceptionally dirty. Half the apartment is now dorms essentially so picture a freshman dorm, but worse. Not worth the price.

Great amenities, apartments are fully furnished, they have everything you need here. Theres food places right across the street and a gas station if you own a car right next to the building. The staff working in the leasing office is great, theyre super helpful, always nice, and super friendly. Maintenance works around the clock 24/7 for you here so if you have a problem with something they are here to help. I love living here as a freshman, just be ready to hear the train horns at night, and prepare for the occassional cockroach that slips its way in. Obviously this place in my mind deserves a 5/5 star rating.

I honestly really love living here! It's convenient, allows pets, and the office people are so nice and easy to work with! It's a little pricey but so worth it since there are shuttles that can take you around campus or you can walk to class I do, so there's no need to buy a garage pass. I would definitely recommend living here!

I moved into Aspyre in August of 2016 and it was cool at first. Turns out when I signed my lease and moved in with my roommate the hot water water heater was broken which caused our electric bill to sky rocket which was a pain because we did not know it was broken for about 5 months. We thought it was just expensive because we had been through 2 quarterly inspections that is done by the staff and they didn't say anything. Finally SCE&G came for a energy saving checkup and noticed it immediately and got it fixed for us. This whole thing probably ended up costing us about $500 more than it should have which of course the staff can't do anything about because why should they? They also say it's a "short" walk to campus which is true if all your classes are in Sweargen Engineering, if not get ready for a 20-30 min walk in South Carolina heat. They do have a shuttle stop now which is nice when they show up in a reasonable time. They also allow freshmen to live here which is different and it would have been good to know when I renewed my lease that they would be living. Rent is too much and went up since I first moved in which I was told wouldn't go up if I renewed within a certain time period which I did and it still went up. The best part of this place is that the maintenance workers are good dudes who work hard and get these done in a timely fashion. Parking is bad and no one here actually knows how to park straight. They will charge you to get an overnight pass if a friend who's spending the night wants to have his car not be towed. This place is fine if your a freshman, but if you're an upper class man I would probably live somewhere further away from campus with cheaper rent and utilities and better internet with a staff who communicates with its residents better. Save some money and look elsewhere.

The staff is completely unknowledgeable and the apartment is not close to anything. The staff accuses people of noise violations and trash violations all the time just to make extra money on top of the ridiculously high rent that we have to pay. I have to walk at least 30 minutes to get to my closest class, and if you choose to take a shuttle that will take at least 20 minutes just to wait for it, and this is on top of even more minutes that it takes to complete all the stops the bus has to take going to and from campus. GO TO 650 LINCOLN INSTEAD: better apartment, actually ON CAMPUS, and an actual staff who will work with you to make living actually convenient. It's quite simple, Aspyre has been the worst housing I have lived at in the 3 years I've been at USC.

Aspyre is a great place to live, with very spacious rooms. When i moved in it was very clean and ready to go. The ammenities are countless as well as the programing is wonderful to make it feel like home. I worked with a consultant named spencer and he was a high class guy, very professional, and helped me with everything I needed. I would recommend this apartment complex over any other in Columbia. 10/10

I moved into Aspyre in January 2016. At first everything seemed great with friendly staff. I started to see a decline shortly after. There is a huge cockroach infestation that seems to never be taken care of. The hallways are filthy, the carpet is filthy, the place was just run down. The parking was okay when I first moved in, except my car and my roommates car was towed the very first night because the leasing office "forgot" to provide us a decal. We were completely uninformed. They then decided to make a huge chunk of parking spots inside the gate "visitor parking only" and the spots outside of the gate are now for parking for a few hours only. Very inconvenient. Want a friend to stay the night? $5 for a parking pass. (in student housing? absurd in my opinion) The fire alarms go off more frequently than the dorm buildings. The maintenance men have no problem walking right on into your home. You have about 2 seconds after they knock for them to barge in. No respect from staff, you're literally just a number to them. I'd finally had enough and decided to move out. That's when they really got me. I paid a cleaning service and carpet cleaners before my walkthrough to avoid any fees. I received a bill for $600 to replace the ENTIRE carpet from smoke odor. The carpet was in terrible condition when I moved in, but they still got me. Not to mention, I don't smoke. I was on a 70 day cross-country bike ride for cancer when they sent me this carpet replacement bill, threatening to send my account to collections in 7 days. If a storm blows through and the pool is filthy green, you'll be waiting a few days for them to clean it. Also, don't let them fool you. There's no dog park. I've never been so dissatisfied with a place I call home. I lived there for 1.5 years and I regret everyday living there.

This is a good place to live, especially if you don't mind walking. Although it was a hike to the other end of campus, it was definitely worth it to avoid the hassle/cost of parking. The management has been great and is always happy to answer any questions or make things right. The actual apartment is huge and in good condition. The only reason I gave it four stars is that it is a bit pricey, but you do get alot for what you pay for (I just don't need all of that).

Hello! I heard from my friend, that this is a great place to live. He claims to have problems with the staff and bugs from time to time, but it gets dealt with finely.This place offers a great location because of it's position near USC. I also heard that that Aspyre at Assembly Station have events, and is one of the best places to catch a Comet Bus and go around town (which I won't use anyways). When I came to visit my friend's apartment it looked well decorated that I would rate it a 10 from a scale 1-10. I may be making my next trip here. ##Very Presentable## :) Also there are train tracks beside this building Does it bother anyone?

Great location that allows students at the university the option of close proximity to their classes. Our family has lived through the change of management and the subsequent renovations and changes done to the building. With every organization things can always improve as nothing is perfect, however you can tell the apartment management is striving to make this location the best that it can be. If you notice they answer the criticisms and positive reviews left on this site something that not very many corporations do, they hire incredible maintenance people such as Rico who take pride in their work and allow you to trust in their ability and their integrity. The community is ethnically diverse and the mix of cultures allows residents to discover more about others cultures. If you are looking for a great home for your college/ graduate school career, or you have a small family aspire is a great location.

Don't do it, dear god. Don't. When I moved in my apartment hadn't be cleaned and they tried to pawn it off on the fact that the cleaning people they'd acquired through the previous management were the culprit and just awful at cleaning (so to say it had been cleaned but they just did an awful job.) When I brought up why they didn't go through and clean all those apartments again you'd think I had three heads. It took me a week of beginning, almost to the point of tears, to get them in there to clean and repeatedly saying "our apartment smells like animal pee," which it still does when it gets hot outside. The place is atrocious though, despite the cleaning. The carpet throughout our entire apartment is disgusting, I don't think it's been removed and changed since it was initially installed and the appliances are crap. Things break all the time and the maintenance crew simply Jerry-rigs them back together and when you make a comment about it they get nasty with you. And the floors in the bathrooms and kitchen are still gross no matter how many times my roommate and I clean them. The management staff is as deplorable as our apartment though, so at least there's some consistency in that. My roommate and I went 9 rounds with them after they tried to charge me $350 for her cat, stating that I didn't have a permit. Any smart person would've taken the initiative and looked at the other unit in the apartment to see if they had a permit before making us argue with them about it. Good grief. I've never dealt with worse customer service and this comes from someone who's been in the CS industry her entire life. I wish I had heeded the reviews that said not to live here because they hit the nail on the head. Be smart, don't do it. You'll come to regret your decision otherwise.

The community is always clean and well-maintained with all of the amenities that I needed to feel right at home. This is the best student living in Columbia and the location couldn't be better! I highly recommend.

Initial impressions are great, but shoddy build quality is apparent upon further review. I can hear people as far as 3 floors up. Constant noise from neighbors and hall even when you can tell they aren't being loud. Location is poor due to constant train passings, it's like "My Cousin Vinny", not that this is the fault of the management, just something to be aware of... Parking is poor, spaces are undersized and people don't know how to park within the lines, yet the only time towing is enforced is for guests who are swiped in (there is no room for guest parking) even though the management claims there is ample parking at all times. The worst part is the cockroach problem. I requested pest treatment several times, and if I go a day without killing at least one roach its a miracle. I don't mean just little guys either... I've killed at least 15 over an inch long. The maintenance guys are really nice and fix everything quickly and courteously. They're personable, hardworking, and outgoing as well. Some people in the front office are nice, and others are just so concerned about not being liable for anything that if you even approach them with a concern they respond with an explanation of why it is your responsibility, even if you were just alerting them to an issue. They have been defensive to the point of ridiculousness. The fire alarm has only sounded once or twice since I've been here so it looks like they've improved that, but the individual detectors inside my apartment are always on the fritz. I eventually just took them down and unplugged them. Poor wiring perhaps? My balcony was in disgusting condition when I moved in... with apparent burns on it and cigarette butts that were never cleaned up. The amenities are nice and there are some upsides, but overall I would not live here again... The poor build quality, paper thin walls, trains, and roaches become a nuisance very quickly.

Living at aspyre has they're pros and cons like all of the other apartments. The fact that having peaceful, nice court yards and thick walls are great. The architecture is rather new and nice. Having a gated garage to keep your automobile secured and protected by sun damage is another plus. Being close to campus where you can walk to save money is also a plus. Leasing office will help whom ever, if not they'll forward you to another person in the office to give you the right answer.

Aspyre has its goods and bads. Goods being that its so close to Swearingen and the rest of campus. The people who work here are very friendly and try really hard to make your time at Aspyre good. The bad things about Aspyre are that the walls are very thin so I get a lot of noise complaints (one of the times I was watching Transformers and I got a noise complaint). Also the layout is like a maze at times and I have to go down to the street to let people in which is kind of a hassle. Overall, a great place for seniors and grad-students to live. I would re-lease if I wasn't going to live in a house next year.
