Beyond that, management is just a mess. They're polite and all, no problems there, but they're a little bit too clueless for me.
Management changed 3 times the year I was there (June 2017-June 2018), and somehow things just stayed the same. I won't even talk about the first team, let bygones be bygones.
My impression was that this community's management somehow excelled at being mediocre!
Maintenance requests were hit or miss. And for a hit you have to follow up in person with the leasing office several times - defeating the purpose of submitting an online maintenance request, in my simple opinion.
I had several encounters with the leasing office where I would go to employee A with concern X, they give me response Y, then I come back to follow up in a couple days with A asking about Y. I would be told Y is wrong, I apologize on behalf of whoever told you that. I would clarify, "Uh it was you," at which point awkwardness ensues.
My last facepalm incident (the most recent example) was a couple weeks before I moved out. I come home from a night shift at 9AM. Water stops at 10AM. Front desk lady tells me, "The fire department is here for a safety check, they're doing one building at a time, shouldn't be more than a few minutes." So I decide that's fine, I'll get some sleep and wake up to running water. Fast forward, I wake up at 1PM. No water. I follow up with same front desk lady - "I don't know what's taking them so long, but the fire department is still doing their check."
A few minutes later I run into the maintenance man. I ask him Hey any idea when the fire department will finish up with building ***?
He said, "Fire department what? I shut off the water supple in your building because a pipe broke in the ground floor. It'll be back up in 30 minutes." Cue facepalm.
I hate moving, and when I moved in to this community I had all intentions to live there for at least 2 years. But they slowly chipped away at my tolerance. I ultimately chose to move to a community where I now happily pay $200 more than I did at Hawk Ridge, in return for better service.
