Been a resident for nearly 17 years. What was once a delightful, quiet and well-kept community has now become one with many issues and problems year after year. The maintenance is no longer top notch or can even be described as "good", which is not entirely the fault of the personnel they do have, as it appears the upper management does not want to spend what is needed to properly handle upkeep needed. The management has changed so many times, it's ridiculous. We have had 5 property managers in the past 2-3 years! Mistakes abound when it comes to rent issues, and the excuses are numerous, from "computer problems" to they are on vacation, to no one is available (for days on end), etc.. Potholes abound throughout the complex, dead trees are everywhere, grass is cut hardly ever, and not maintained properly, as clippings are no longer removed as they once were. Bushes are unkempt most of the time, and weeds are never pulled. Fences are in ill-repair. The renters are mostly short-term anymore, and disappear as quickly as they rent. The frequency of police presence is a concern. Interior maintenance has become a joke ... as there is no replacement of old items, only moving something refurbished or fixed from one apartment to another. The lack of property management's presence is a joke. If you need something done or need to speak with management, there is rarely anyone in the office, and there is no direct number to reach anyone for assistance. There is an "emergency" phone number for maintenance repairs, and the pager system was out for months, making it impossible to ever reach anyone in an emergency! always available, It is frustrating and scary for some of us who are elderly if there is a pipe bursting or major emergency. An example, the fire smoke alarm was sounding off for hours in a vacant apartment, and there was no way to get hold of anyone. A tenant had to enter thru an unlocked window to turn off alarm and all the lights left on in the vacant apartment to assure there was no fire issue. The next step would, of course would have been to call the fire department and have them break the door down. The main issue seems that the owners no longer care about the premises or buildings that need repair, and there is no care or background checks into the individuals now allowed to rent. This no longer feels like a safe or well-kept community, which saddens me. On top of that, many of us are now aware that a part-time maintenance man, working 2-3 days a week is allowed to have access to tenants' personal records and rent checks, as well as access to computer emails from tenants trying to reach management. It was learned that this individual "erased" messages that might "upset" the manager. This practice appears to be illegal, as this person is not bonded and should not be given this privilege, just because upper management won't hire a full-time property manager who is available, or at least has a back up manager available at all times. Highly unprofessional. We have some individuals who have requested to be moved to a one-bedroom apartment, as they cannot afford to stay in a 2--bedroom, and they are told they can't do it because they are trying to fill those with new tenants. How is this taking care of tenants who are already here and want to stay? Makes no sense to any of us! No wonder we keep losing good tenants. Best I can say is rent at your own risk, and be aware.
